Assignment * Imagine yourself as a Recruitment Officer of a particular organization, decide on the recruitment outcomes of the situations that you will encounter in the next set of slides. * Justify thoroughly why you would come up with such decisions. Case # 1 * Your organization is in need of a new Project Operations Manager. The position has been vacant for two months. As such, the need has already become urgent. The HR Director is pushing you to fast-track the hiring process. While no qualified candidates have really passed the screening and selection process, two of them seem to stand out among the rest. * One happens to be your close friend and the other one is a walk-in candidate whom you just met during one of the interviews. The latter is obviously better than the former. Who will you recommend to the position and why? I would recommend the latter for the position. Even though the other candidate is my close friend, the success of the company would rely on the efficiency people. Recruitment and selection is about putting the right people to the right job. In order for us to achieve this, we should be objective in hiring the most qualified candidate, who will be able to meet the qualifications for the position. The latter may not have passed the screening and selection process but he/she is a better candidate for the position. What he/she lacks, we could improve by training or letting him/her attend seminars which can help her improve and be more productive for the position.
