My uncle fought in World War Two as a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division. To me, my great uncle embodied the idea of a hero. After returning home from the war, settling into his life as a husband, civilian and laborer, my uncle became a member of his local chapter of the American Legion. He was always active in the undertakings of his chapter and worked tirelessly for the charities the chapter supported. One such charity was the Children’s Welfare Fund of Jefferson County Wisconsin, which was renamed for him after his death.
Firstly, his character traits including his oratory skills, his Nobel Peace Prize and his famous I Have A Dream speech were instrumental in his success as the face of the Civil Rights campaign. His oratory skills was the key component that got Martin Luther King famous, when he moved to Montgomery it was this skill that got him to the top so quickly. These made him a successful leader because it allowed him to motivationally communicate with his fellow African American followers. An example of great motivation in his speech would be his ‘I Have a Dream Speech’ at the March on Washington in 1963, this was his most famous speech, he spoke to at least 250,000 supporters and motivated them completely and got the civil rights act that followed was a true reminder of his skill. However his leadership skills were strained when it came to the Birmingham, Alabama protest that was a huge disappointment.
My Hero Gary Sinise Mr. Gary Sinise is best known as LT. Dan from the Oscar award winning film Forest Gump. Other films Mr. Sinise also stared in were the acclaimed Apollo 13 as well as the thriller Ransom just to name a few of the many. (www.garysinisefoundation.org) But these are not the qualities that make him a hero to me. Mr. Sinise is an inspiration to me because of his selfless devotion to honoring the men and women of the armed forces as well as first responders and all who serve our country. He does this through the foundations that he has started, one of which is the Gary Sinise Foundation.
This may have just seemed like an ordinary boxing event to some, but in reality it was more. The fate of this small black community in Arkansas, as a whole, relied on the fact if the champion, Joe Louis, won or lose again. The excerpt starts out with how the people of this small town in Arkansas have come together, as if they’re one big happy family, sticking together for the good times and bad times. People have filled Angelou’s uncles’ cornerstone to capacity just to listen to this radio broadcast. “Uncle Willie had turned the radio up to its last
Using his ability to run, he ran and ran until he carried members into safety. One of the men he saved was Lt. Dan, a man who looked down on Forrest for his disability, another man he saved was one of Forrest’s best good friends. Sadly, his friend died that day, but Forrest wins the Metal of Honor trying to save him. Forest was very successful in his life. By sticking to his beliefs, he graduated college, fought for his country, became a millionaire and achieved many honors such as meeting the president.. twice.
Bravery Bravery is a trait possessed by many but shown by few. In the movies “21” and “Catch me if you can” both Frank and Ben showed bravery but Frank was quite a bit braver than Ben. Frank is braver than Ben because what he’s doing is illegal, he is constantly running, and he has multiple identities. In “Catch me if you can” Frank Abignale Jr. runs away from home ,which is brave itself because he is so young, and he starts writing checks from a checkbook his father gave him for his birthday. He goes from writing bad checks to making them and posing as an airline pilot for Pan American Airline.

After fooling the group into believing he is also a victim, he becomes addicted to all kinds of support groups when he realises it cures his insomnia temporarily. During the course of the story the narrator meets a man named Tyler Durden and moves in with him when his apartment is blown up in a gas explosion. The narrator stops going to the support meetings and the two men start ‘fight club’, where men come to fight each other and escape their normal lives. Tyler quickly becomes the leader of fight club and turns it into an anti-consumerist, anti-corporate terrorist organisation known as ‘Project Mayhem’. My favourite quote from the novel deals with the running theme of consumerism: “It’s only after you’ve lost everything,” Tyler says, “that you’re free to do anything.”[1] Normally the term ‘losing everything’ would obviously carry with it negative connotations but Tyler means that when a person rids themselves of all their material possessions it is only then that they are truly free.
Adam Talley was like most little boys full of energy playing with trucks building forts and doing just what typical boys love to do. But when he started to complain about stomach pains and vomiting doctors thought he had appendicitis but after tests doctors where shocked as he was diagnosed with a rear cancer with only a 30 % chance of survival. After treatment after treatment and being on life support for 3 weeks Adam fought for his life and received finally after 310 days and nights Adam was able to go home thanks to doctors and nurses and local blood donors. Surprisingly you could have been the hero for someone like Adam. And the thing is you could be that persons hero and surprisingly you don't have to dress up in tights or a costume all you have to do is go to your local blood bank and give blood every 56 days and that’s when you'll be a real hero Who gets to say I saved 3 peoples lives this
I tend to naturally take lead and run with projects successfully, my gift of administration allows me to do this and do a good job. I have to remember that I can bring ideas and be part of the team but most likely my husband who works there now will lead the project again. The evangelism gift is precious but I have to remember to be patient and not rush people into making a decision about Jesus, but to show them how worthy He is, His love for them. PART THREE: What were
