I thought it was a nice way to end it, by only asking to be a good and faithful servant to his Lord and his people. He handed his self very well at a time as bad as he was given, I admired his confidence in our great
Once Sonny got released the narrator was there for him and welcomed Sonny into his family’s home. Even after the mistakes Sonny has made he remembered the story about how his father’s brother died and it reminded him of what his mother told him. She had told him “ Hold on to your brother and don’t let him fall, no matter what it looks like is happening to him and no matter how evil you gets of him” (56). After that talk with his mother the narrator and Sonny lost contact again until the mother died. Once she passed away and had her funeral they both sat and talked about Sonny’s future.
Marine Corps training taught us to kill efficiently and to try to survive. But it also taught us loyalty to each other - and love” (315). I admire that he talks about the bond that they all share by the time the war is over. He values the friendships that he has made, and the love that they all have for each other. I really like that he never loses touch with reality even though it was hard at
This story has many important lesson, an ample amount I could benefit from myself. One major theme in the book was the importance to know and respect ones history. Throughout the book Sundiata shows great respect for what came before him. For example, his admiration of Alexander the great and how he wanted to somewhat embody the essence of a similar spirit or how even in his fathers death he still honored the alliances created by his father which later on helped him on becoming a great ruler. I think in today’s context we should take from this to honor our ancestors and take heed of their knowledge and wisdom because we can all gain from their experiences.
Growing up I remember my grandfather passing away at the young age of 60, although he did not pass from Alzheimer's disease, he did battle with a chronic illness that left him debilitated. He was the love of my grandmother’s life and to see him struggle everyday was very difficult for her. Reading this poem to her brought back extremely powerful memories that she thought she buried away many many years
I’d never have been giving this party” (10). After lamenting on her mistake, Auntie Mame happily embraces her nephew and kisses him, thus giving him the reassurance that he is safe. Auntie Mame is also very proud to have her nephew around, as she goes around introducing him to her guests. Her pride is apparent from her statement that “This is my brother’s son and now he’s going to be my little boy” (13). After formally welcoming Patrick into her home, auntie Mame apologizes for her mistake and promises him that they would talk more the following day.
The gratification he gains from seeing his son grow and flourish throughout the novel has to be one of the most fulfilling experiences a parent can have. The man also experiences a spiritual transformation as a result of his hardships. When a person experiences crisis in their lives they can turn to their spirituality. The father is a perfect example of this. He could easily become selfish and self centered given the circumstances, but he sticks with his ethics given the thinking that his reward will be greater in the longer
He also had so much respect from the people of Hawai’I. He showed people how much he cared, and truly believed that he could unite the islands, and make Hawai’I a better place for not only men, but for women too. Kamehameha always showed his faith in his religion. He showed that he believed in God. He always honored him, he wasn’t afraid to show that there was someone better than him, and it was his God.
.” This illustrates Alexander’s appreciation toward his men and how he treated them with respect rather than with cruelty. This also symbolizes that Alexander was unselfish by showing respect to his men, even though he was injured himself. Hammond stress Alexander’s positive attitude towards his men when he writes, “He loved his soldiers and they loved him; he and his veterans wept when they parted company . . .” Another reason Alexander’s respect for his army indicated his good leadership skills is due to the fact that he would always fight in battle with his men and would never let them fight alone.
This is explored through Gorg Ali, who acts as a primary role model to Najaf, teaching him to be peaceful in times of conflict. Najaf also acknowledges Robin his dearest friends who help him through his time in conflict. Lastly, Najaf himself is an example of how positive things can sometimes come from conflict. He triumphs over the emotional turmoil in Woomera, and his separation from friends and family, and in the end, the novel is a happy
