A diary of young Hawaiian women 1) Can you tell me what woman in their right mind would ever ever ever enjoy living in Hawaii with the kapu regarding the religion. Who would want to eat their breakfast, lunch and/ or dinner in a separate room from their husband, let alone other men. I think this is bizarre! I don’t like following this, it’s so unfair, and does not make any sense, what so ever to me. And what is up with Ali’I of high class mingling with commoners? Why can’t Ali’I just mingle with who ever they want to mingle with. Why do they have to be high class just as the Ali’i? What if he falls in love with a commoner? I believe that Hawai’I will get its time. I am not the only woman who wants Hawai’I to change. Many other women agree that the Kapu System isn’t fair. They too believe that the Kapu System favors the men. They think it’s unfair that women and men can’t eat in the same house, that they can’t prepare food together. They are scared for their lives to eat in the mens area, if they do, they can be facing the death penalty. They also disagree that women aren’t allowed to eat certain foods… Although we think it’s unfair, we have no choice but to follow the Kapu System, we have faith that someone will come along and change…show more content…
He showed true leadership, he taught, and believed in God. Kamehameha wanted to make Hawai’I a better island, and so he did. He started trade and commerce with other countries, while at the same time keeping his people satisfied. He traded sandalwood and other goods. He also had so much respect from the people of Hawai’I. He showed people how much he cared, and truly believed that he could unite the islands, and make Hawai’I a better place for not only men, but for women too. Kamehameha always showed his faith in his religion. He showed that he believed in God. He always honored him, he wasn’t afraid to show that there was someone better than him, and it was his God.
