Why Happiness Has No Cost In today’s society money can buy just about anything – a car, a house, and food to put on the table. The question is: Does money buy true happiness? Some would agree that money allows one to be happy because they can buy material possessions, however others would disagree. Happiness occurs through love, friendship, and self worth. Money makes life financially easier but does not provide true happiness, only a temporary satisfaction.
The article “Maybe Money Does Buy Happiness After All” states that people with higher incomes are not satisfied because they want more time with friends and family. It also states that one with a higher income is still not satisfied because they always strive to want more. Some disagreed with the economist in this article and believe money does buy happiness due to more scientific research becoming available to increase healthier lives, allowing one to work less to go on vacation and spend time with family. Many wealthy individuals have high demanding jobs causing them to constantly work. This creates an unhappy person because they do not have the time to enjoy their wealth with friends and family. There are many factors that define the true meaning of happiness.
To begin with, true happiness comes from the heart. True love is something that one can’t buy because it’s not tangible. You don’t have to have money to be in love with one another. True love withstands all obstacles, including the loss of a job. For example, if the CEO of a company lost his job to the economical strains today, would his/her marriage survive the financial difficulties? Some would say that losing your job would challenge your relationship, questioning whether or not one would stay together. If the relationship was based on true love, it would survive because
