Career Development Plan Summary Misty Becher University of Phoenix HRM 531 Dr. H. Glyn Jordan, Instructor November 16, 2009 Plan Summary I am running a small restaurant in a small town we are going to be restructuring. I am going to be expanding by adding more seating and adding an ice cream parlor onto the restaurant for the months of April through October. This restructuring will require additional personnel to be hired as well as new training for new employees and updating training for current employees. There will be five new positions that will need to be filled before we can make the transition to our new and improved restaurant. All team members should participate and share in the work so everyone has a lighter load. If an individual thinks they can do it on their own this can affect the team performance and upset the balance. Everyone has to think like a team and not just about themselves and their needs. If one person decides not to do anything and just takes a free ride, this affects the team as a whole. To encourage this not to happen make sure all team members have a part to do, no matter how small it is. This will encourage participation and show that all team members are important. All team members have a responsibility to the team to do their part. If one person does not want to do their part this causes distress for the rest of the team because then they have to scramble to get that part done. The wait staff will be paid the minimum wage for waitresses and with tips make up the difference in the legal minimum wage law. If the wait staff does not reach the difference with tips, the company will make up the difference. All wait staff will receive a raise at each performance evaluation if they receive a score of 5 or better. The preparer will be paid based on experience and knowledge that are brought to the job. If little additional training is needed in skills area then the pay rate will be better. If training is needed in skills and knowledge then the person will get a raise on next performance evaluation if there is an improvement in areas of the job. The ice cream server will start out at minimum wage for the first 90 days. Then an evaluation will be given along with a raise if the performance is where the business desires it to
