Professional Development Plan on Organizational Leadership Thelma Joiner LDR/531 January 6, 2015 Herbert Johnston Professional Development Plan Learning Team B consists of myself with 15 years of medical billing and medical management experience. Ms. Ebony King who would like to be a retail owner, but also carries a military background as a logistic specialist. Ms. Joyce Bush was a previous banker with Navy Federal Credit union and is now a field advisor with Central Texas College, but is working on owning her cupcake shop one day. Our group consists of 3 different behavioral style assessments. They include myself being in the dominance style as the producer. I can attest to this definition and characteristics of myself. I tend to find myself very direct that I had to learn how to put a filter before I speak bluntly. When seeking employment I find myself seeking leadership and management positions. Many times I find being overly confident in certain situations and wanting to take control of the situation. When working in a team setting I find myself wanting to start ahead of everyone else and leading the group to obtain the best results. The D style personality weaknesses can include when I over step authority due to control issues. My listening skills are often poor in certain situations, which results to overlooking the important issues. The dominance personality style person is motivated by new challenges and achieving goals. Dominance personality leaders are humble but enjoy verbal recognition as well as rewards. Majority of project managers have a dominance personality style because they enjoy challenges and non-routine tasks. Each member compliments each style in certain ways with the different characteristics and traits. The producer looks into accomplishing bigger and better goals within a timetable and can delegate tasks when necessary. The adventurer seeks primary goals, can deal with confrontation and seeks to get things done quickly. The steadiness style member is a go-getter, and looks for concrete short-term results and can be very industrious. My learning team consists of 3 dominant women members that have found a way to collaborate and make it work in a team
