Paul’s parents’ choices changed the direction of his life. While they meant well, they were shielding Paul from life and the real world. They also prevented Paul from growing up and may have led Paul to distrust his parents and other authority figures. By demanding his truth about his eyesight, Paul showed his desire for the truth and to grow up. Part of growing up is learning how to handle the truths and disappointments of life.

Serial killers usually have a traumatic childhood, so it must be apparent that something went tremendously wrong with Aileen as a child that led her to be a psychotic serial killer. One of the main reasons that Aileen Wuornos became a serial killer was due to her upbringing. Her mother abandoned her very early in her childhood and her father was a convicted pedophile who eventually committed suicide in prison. One could only assume that she was adopted by close family members or a foster child. Another disturbing revelation about her childhood was that Aileen had sexual relations at a young age, but with her brother Keith.
The first and obvious reason is that the book takes place in a pro-communist setting. The book may have been trying to prove a point, but it was still enough to offend many. The book is also sexually explicit, so it is easy to see why parents may want to “protect” their children from the idea of sex and that it should not be thought of in the way George Orwell writes about it. The most interesting reason for the ban of 1984 was the fact that it reminded people of what is like in the United States today. It has made people uncomfortable to think that what is being described in this chilling novel reminds them of what they see outside their own windows, with the fact that humans are constantly on watch and there is practically no way to keep anything hidden.
Censorship is the idea of not revealing ideas and text in order to benefit society. But in many ways, censoring items causes the world to create biased thoughts based on the limited information released. In some cases the world is blinded because they are told nothing to begin with. Historical events such as the holocaust can prove this true. To this day society continues to be censored from ideas by the government and companies that impact our ways of life and learning.

Government intervention into the media is a hot topic these days, filled with controversy and blame. Every group is pointing the finger at another group. Parents are blaming the government for not helping, government is blaming the media for not censoring material, and others are blaming the parents for not censoring and protecting their children. Our society is getting nowhere. there is no solid proof that the media causes violence, and although parents do a lot to help and protect their children, there are still some steps that can be taken to protect their children against violent and sexual material.
He thinks that he is the only one that opposes the corrupt authority, but does not reach out to other people because he is afraid. The Party's manipulation causes each member of society to feel isolated, and causes many to accept the Party's words as the truth. When members of society feel isolated, they turn to INGSOC for answers, even if they know it is false. The personification in the passage illustrates how INGSOC controls thought by changing history. Winston personifies the past, saying that it, "was dead" (25).
