What does the statement, “Students not only care what you know, but want to know you care” mean to you? This statement to me means, that there are students who not only seek for a teacher with knowledge, but a teacher who will appreciate them as a student, and encourage them to succeed. This is because many students are discouraged by those teachers who are in a classroom because it is their job rather than their passion. Everyday I encounter different students with different personalities, but through my experience with children, I have learned that, the most common students are those who are in need of a caring hand and support. Inclusion of all students is important. If they feel intimidated in class they can come to me afterwards and ask a question in private. The one on one meetings allows the teacher to get to know about the interests, hope, and concerns of the student, and facilitate a relationship in which students feel they are emotionally and physically safe and, therefore free to engage in constructive discourser with their teacher (Brewster, 2000). A2) Self-Motivation Mr. Collet’s homework policy promotes self-motivation by making the students responsible for having done their work and meet the teacher’s expectations. This part of the policy would promote self-motivation for a 4th grade classroom because it would hold the students accountable for meeting the teacher’s expectation. This make a student want to do exactly as the teacher ask. Most students don’t want to disappoint their teacher and having to appeal to the teacher for not having the homework turned in on time, So they will make sure to keep up with their work and what is expected of them.
The teacher may have genuinely been concerned with presenting too much information to students but through my classes at Sage, excessive stimuli is good of students with ADD because it gives them many things to focus on instead of causing behavioral problems. I want to have a classroom that has a lot of visuals and educational posters on the wall. Wayson also spoke about teacher student relations and how to open your classroom for more effective learning. He talked about not embarrassing a student, but in turn seeking alternate ways of getting your message across. This is something that we have touched on throughout the course, but something I feel to be very important. I think its imperative that as teachers we think about what our actions have the power to do. At the elementary level, we are shaping how students feel about themselves which can affect them the rest of their lives.
I want to be able to improve my communication skills and leadership abilities. To help the community through service activities and to be a good role model to other students so they can see that being a hard working student is a good thing. To also prepare myself for real-life situations and high-school by giving me experience and pushing me even harder to accomplish all that I can in school. First and foremost, I am an excellent scholar. Not only do I work very hard to achieve my goals, but I take pride in my accomplishments.
And with good teachers come good students with good grades. And finally I said a principle, I say that because you want a responsible principal to make sure the teachers are educating the students the right way and handling all the school problems and to keep students safe. Reflection may be defined as a critical thinking over what we have done or are sdoing to explore and find out what is needed for a better and more effective teaching. Through reflection, a teacher is efficiently able to get considerable steps toward continuous improvement that definitely promotes achieving a real, successful educational process. Teachers gain many benefits from reflecting on their practices. Meanwhile, students spontaneously receive indirect messages from their teachers guiding them to be cooperative and responsive in learning. They, too, can be reflective learners; it has been stated that "Among the best things that you can accomplish in your work is to help children become more reflective themselves, more like fearless truth seekers, constructive risk takers, and inquiring thinkers"(Kottler, Zehm & Kottler, 2005, p. 136).
Cognitive coaching is a method which motivates, retains and supports teachers at each stage of development. I spoke with a former teacher and share that on several separate occasions new teachers voiced their concern of not feeling motivated or supported by the school leadership. The mentor filled this void. New teachers felt they had someone to confide in regarding their struggles and trusted the mentor would listen and assist them in growing as a teacher. The veteran teachers where in pleasantly surprised when they recognized there was a possible new way to introduce content beyond his or her normal delivery.
Good communication is the way to resolve issues with the way students are being taught. If there was more class participation it would break down the monotony of just having a teacher read from a book or lecturing the entire time. “Knowledge emerges only through invention and reinvention,
