“Unveiled” Film Analysis In the film “Unveiled” an Iranian female Fariba, feels the need to escape her country due to her scare of being persecuted for being a lesbian. The Discrimination aspect, society uses against homosexuals in many countries is prevalent as more heterosexual individuals experience some feeling of homophobia. In her escape to Germany she experienced many struggles that were reflected on the friendships she developed. After her application was denied by authorities to leave the country she was told she would have to return to her home country. The aspect of denial in regarding homosexuals is also a society-stemmed action because in our view we don’t consider them a “normal person” though they just have different inspirations. In relation to Fariba she is inspired to change her identity to a male figure. As the friendship forms between Fariba and Siamak a fellow-inmate she gains a desperate prospect that will help her in achieving her inspiration. The death of Siamak’s brother brought grief to his life as it soon overtook his mind resulting in him to commit suicide. The impact this brought to Fariba allowed her to assume his male identity in hope that it would help get her to Germany and free from the feeling she can’t express herself. The ability to come out, as a homosexual in society is disturbed from the stereotypes that are in place, leaving them with the feeling to disguise or hold back expressions in which we see portrayed by Fariba throughout the film. In the action of assuming Siamak’s identity, which included dressing in his clothes and Fariba cutting her hair short to make it similar to the image of Siamak in order for her to escape custody. She developed a certain sense of freedom felt, as posing a male figure while she was working a menial man’s job in a sauerkraut processing plant. An infatuated relationship is formed
