I witnessed and endured a lot of things that most non-native children probably had not been through. I saw the persons go to prison, and the peoples die from complications due to alcoholism. The children in grade school now drink, do drug, and go to jail. Some people have dropped out of school. The shock of seeing the people who should have a good future being sucked in to the vicious cycle of reservation life is close to unbearable, but it is the norm in this area.
We ain't got no choice and if that means getting killed... its what we do around here to feed our family.” Another cause of this problem is the lack of choices they can make. When living in the neighborhood as some of these gang members do its hard to be successful and make a name for yourself. At the end of the day they will do what they have to, to feed their families. If that means risking their lives selling crack to make $3.30 an hour then that’s what has to be done. A final quote that supports this is “They did however pay dues to the gang-some for protection, other for the chance to eventually earn a job as a foot soldier.
He had a reputation for extreme violence and often carried a knife. A series of further criminal activities during his teenage years were often reprimanded by local police and courts. His parents had little or no control over him at all. Travers was expelled from high school during Year 10 for being continually disruptive to other students. Beyond schooling he held very few jobs and preferred to claim unemployment benefits to provide means for an income.
“But the Duvitches were marked people.” (3) This prevented them to do what they wished peacefully because where ever they went they would be harassed by the town folk. And that harassment helps to prevent them from feeling free. Moving into a new country is tough, but moving to a place where the community doesn’t accept you is much harder. Even though you are technically free, you can never be free unless you are accepted by the community you move to. This is shown in the short story The Strangers That Came to Town by Ambrose Flack.
The youth involved in gangs have been introduced to the racially discriminated environment because the hatred of other towns and the people that live there, not only because they are enemies but because of their craving of being superior, being better than another race. By being discriminated people feel sad, mad, or sometimes they might not care at all depending on their educational status. “Welcome back nigger” comments like these don’t bother uneducated gang members because the careless mind, focusing only on anything gang related which is what their life revolves. “In my younger years that wouldn’t have bothered me much. But with my new direction and expanded cautiousness, it struck me hard.” Education is the answer to a better understanding of things and a better
In my opinion, the one way to fix this problem is by imprisoning the offenders on their first offense. Hundreds and thousands of innocent people are dying each year because of drunk driving. Can you imagine the pain that the families of these innocent people have to go through when they lose a loved one all because of something as petty and preventable as an accident caused by a drunk driver? It is never ok to take the life of another person, and drunk driving is just someone threatening to do that in my opinion. If a person says that they did not mean to hurt anyone when they drink and drive, I still take it as they did mean to do it.
In college, binge drinking is always a problem and the drinking age of 21 is considered a “joke”. Every college campus has students who violate the drinking law every week. This document offers that since all students at the age of 19 are drinking already, the law should be lowered to that age, so that three-quarters of the students aren’t violating the law. This is very dangerous to their health and their body, especially their brains that are still maturing, The fact that since a good amount of people are drinking underage and breaking the law doesn’t mean that the law needs to be changed. The law should not have to change as per the people, the people need to follow the laws that are given by their government especially
Gangs are becoming a growing problem in our society and its young members are turning away from family and school to destroy their lives. Gang members are usually made up of young females and young males between the ages of 12-18. They usually stick together in groups and are always getting in trouble with the police. A lot of these kids usally come from a dysfunctional
There are also many under age drivers on the road that makes driving on the road more dangerous for them and anyone driving that day. A lot of people also die because they drive while intoxicated I would have to say that’s one of the most cause of death each year. Talking on the phone is one of the most dangerous habits because you’re not always concentrated on the road. Talking on the phone while driving is prohibited because you can get into a car wreck or make some get into one or hit someone and can cause severe injury or death. It is very prohibited to talk on the phone in school areas because there is a lot of kids walking to school or getting off of their parents vehicles to walk into school and you can hit them and severely injure them or even cause death.
In order to reduce this problem we can give the homeless and the unfortunate a sanitary place to stay. We already have lots of people who die from diseases and thus we don’t need to lose more people because of our government lack of care for the homeless. Every day there’s a crime committed against homeless people. Did you that Sixty-eight percent out of 137 people have been a victim of a violent attack since they've became homeless. Some solutions that we have is to shoot all the homeless people but that would be a bad solution because we would be
