I remember looking down into the water and seeing a crab nestled on a rock. There were Buskers playing piano accordions, and the music followed us as we walked down the boardwalk. It was the perfect day to visit the ocean for the first time. The city is surrounded by tall, thick, green trees; slowly changing color to yellow and orange. As a child, every fall, my parents would take me and my siblings camping.
As a child I visited Florida every holiday and a year later my mother decided to move to Florida. My first time visiting Florida was so memorable we would visit family members and eat at different restaurants. A favorite place for me when I visited Florida was the getting my hair braided at the shop and going to the race track. I remember when we visited the race track Mr. Gerald Alston a famous singer treated me and my cousin our favorite place we enjoyed riding the race cars, playing games at the arcades. It was wonderful all the children were steering at us while we attended the race track with Mr. Alston; their parents were amazed at the singer spending time at the race track with kids in public.
The biggest festival is held in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Every year, the city throws a large festival at the Luis Muñoz Marin Park. Delectable food and drinks fill the aroma of the air, live music fills your eardrums, and little kids surround you everywhere. On some occasions, a number of lucky kids receive additional gifts. But the only thing the kids and parents are waiting for is for The Three Kings’ arrival.
Every year late in November, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving; a holiday which one is thankful for the house they live in, clothes on their back, food on their plate and family who love them dearly. However, this famous holiday which only happens once a year started over four-thousand years ago with the Indians and Pilgrims. Most of us remember learning about Thanksgiving in grade school; the Pilgrims and Indians sitting down together enjoying a big feast and giving thanks for everything they had. However, in August 1620 before America was a colony, the Pilgrims set sail to find land for the New World landing in Plymouth, near Cape Cod. The Pilgrims had made it to the Massachusetts Bay!
They return to Masson’s bungalow, drink wine, and eat a big lunch. Meursault starts to feel slightly drunk. He talks about possibly spending the month of August on the beach with Masson and Raymond. Everyone is enjoying themselves and they realize they have all lost track of time when Marie notices that it is only 11:30 in the morning. Meursault, Raymond, and Masson walk back down to the beach.
I would wake up to the smell off bacon and pancakes and kittens playing with my hair. It was good to be home. When the school let me visit, my grandma dropped me off. My friends were happy to see me, as well as my old teaches. I shared lunch with my friends, where we all laughed and talked.
Most people barbeque chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers, ribs, and much more, but everyone has king cakes which are only in Louisiana. The smell of the people barbequing is marvelous. Everyone has an abundance of food; therefore no one goes hungry and maybe have enough for leftovers the next day. After everything is over; the floats and eating, people pack their chairs, towels, bags of beads, barbeque pits and head on home after an exhaustive day. When they get home they take the beads out the bags and keep the ones they like and throw the rest in the bag, and the little kids look through the bags to find toys that they can play with.
After returning to Miami, my next 24 hours would be spent saying goodbye to all of my loved ones. My house is always used for entertaining guests so it is a no brainer that I would then proceed to have a party. The party would begin in the late afternoon around 5pm to celebrate my life and all of the pleasurable moments I have shared with those that have a special place in my heart. I would have a disco ball, strobe lights, balloons of all colors of the rainbow, a buffet of Haitian and Chinese food since they are my favorite, a dj, and a 3 tiered cake in order to thank everyone for being in my life whether it was all of it or just a short amount of time. The party would have no time limit, and would end only when the last person left my
First I wanted to be a crossing guard just like my grandmother, then I wanted to be a teacher like my favorite teacher Ms. Terry, next I wanted to be a fashion designer, a news castor, a basketball player, a physical therapist the list goes on and on. Luckily I had a very supportive family so whenever I came up with a new career they always gave me hope that I could do it. From the ages of one to nine each of my birthdays were celebrated with big parties in my grandparent’s backyard. Everyone would come to wish me a happy birthday and I always had the best time. There were food, games family and friends all the things a child could hope for at birthday party.
Fourth of July People are overjoyed at the start of summer because it means a break from the stress of school for several months. One of the greatest parts of the summer is the 4th of July. It reminds Americans of the freedom they have and the struggle people have triumphed to protect it. Every year, my family celebrates this great day by throwing a party and inviting all of our friends. This has gone on for the last thirteen years and we have had anywhere from fifty to three hundred people at our house.
