The Roman Empire is one of the greatest and most successful Empires in the Ancient world. It had great rulers and was very powerful, although it finally fell apart. The decline of the Roman Empire consisted of weak political systems such as the government, the decrease of occupations and money, and reactions of the hopelessness of the people. Politics had an enormous influence in the fall of the Roman Empire. This is demonstrated in documents 4, 5, and 6.
In third century rome faced a lot of problems. It came from in and out of the empire. Some of those problems were military, political, economic. Internal problems and invasions made the empire fall as well. The roman empire the economy system got weak.
The last reason that caused Rome to fall was the rulers. According to Document A, there were twenty-two rulers just during a fifty-year period, from 235 CE to 285 CE. Because there was a frequent change in rulers, the empire was instable, which was violent to the leadership. The empire could easily be conquered. Also, on the Background Essay, it said that the rulers became too worldly and lazy.
Turning Points: Fall of Rome and Middle Ages In ancient history, just like today, there has been many changes throughout different countries. Some countries failed in maintaining the government, while others had economic problems, but Rome experienced both. By 400 AD, Rome was pretty much finished. It didn't only have economic problems and government instability, but they also had to deal with diseases, decrease in population, starvation, and military problems. The fall of Rome started off with the government, since the empire was too large, it was hard for them to govern effectively.
My personal opinion is that Rome collapsed because of all the factors mentioned in this paper (and many more that I didn’t list). Some factors played larger roles than others but I think Rome’s collapse was due many, many variables. No matter how great a civilization or empire is, I think it’s inevitable that eventually, it will fall. How long it will take to fall what is unknown. I believe, unfortunately, the USA will one day crumble.
Another primary reason of Rome’s decline was a series of foreign invasions. As Rome’s army weakened, foreigners began taking over parts of Rome. Many people hated Rome for taking all their land and property because Rome had conquered many provinces over the years of its prosperity. Land was important, and the Romans had a lot of it, so foreigners wanted to conquer Rome. The Visigoths were the first to reach there.
The causes for the fall of Rome can be divided into four categories: political, military, economic and social. Using the information you have read, identify one cause in each category and explain how it contributed to the decline of the Roman Empire. Military: Around the 4th century AD, the Roman military had become significantly feebler, mostly to the barbarians who had been attempting to breach Rome's borders for years. Soon, the barbarians began to gain access to the Western Empire on an even larger scale then before, first as minor groups of settlers and soldiers, but ultimately as entire tribes. They sensed military flaws and began to found small kingdoms, like Gaul, Spain.
Fall of Rome Grand Canyon University Near-Eastern History HIS 318 February 26, 2012 Fall of Rome From an early civilization to kingdom, to a Republic and then to an Empire, Rome was the most powerful, influential and one of the largest cities of the western world for more than five centuries (Seindal, 2003). Unfortunately, due to some poor decisions by emperors resulted in a weakened economy along with political and military turmoil and life as the Roman citizens knew it would all come crumbling down and the Western Roman Empire would never be the same. Of course the vast empire of Rome was not built in a day and it certainly didn’t fall in one day, it was more like a slow decline over a hundred years until their borders were
The event which led up to feudalism being born is the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 CE. After the Roman government had collapsed Western Europe was left without a government. This was a major problem for crime rates had drastically increased, and cities had become too perilous to live in and were therefore abandoned due to the chaos which occurred within the lawless city. People needed to find shelter and protection quickly and the feudal system was their answer. People found shelter and protection in rural manors which became their own self-sufficient realms.
There are specific times throughout the history of America, from our beginning in 1776, to the Gulf Wars, when, as a nation, we have been fearful of the very real threats and imminent dangers that accompany a territorial war. War often means death, division of a country, thousands or more people physically and mentally lost in the chaos of violence. However, what happens to a nation that faces a threat of a different kind? It's collapse caused by a failing economy, a failing government. Although their candidacies were more than six decades apart, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President Barack Obama used the decline of the American and world-wide economy to pull citizen together to help each other on a united front.
