Water is a coolant because, water has a high specific heat. This means that water can lose or absorb a high amount of heat without changing temperature much. Water also contains a high heat of vaporization so when water evaporates, it brings a lot of heat with it. Sweat is one of the best ways the body cools itself. Water having a high latent heat of vaporization sweat is an effective method of cooling the body. Since the body is made up of mostly water, cooling the body with water is the best way. Water’s polarity, cohesive and adhesive properties are very important. Being cohesive means that the water molecules will “stick together”. There are also a lot of substance that adhere to water. Adhesion is hydrogen bonds forming between water and other polar molecules, causing water to stick to them. H2O molecules can make H - bonds with the substance molecules; H2O is also a polar molecule. Therefore, bonds with other polar molecules as well. So water is a good transport medium. Sodium Chloride, Amino Acids, Glucose, and Oxygen are all polar and are soluble in water. Specifically, transport in blood plasma these are carried, dissolved. Water is very important in any habitat. For humans and other species water is a main source of life and the hydration of the body. Water being cohesive is able to defy gravity and push through roots to the very top leaves of the trees and other plants. Also cohesion allows surface water tension, such as a pond, and this allows certain insects to walk on water without sinking in the pond. Water is a great transport medium for most molecules of organisms, it also provides aqueous environment for which most biochemical reaction occur(Metabolic). Without water, organisms will suffer and the body of a human will not be regulated as well. Water is very important in Transportation, Cooling, and as a
