I have acquired the personal requirements that a person must have before stepping into this type of job. I am working on furthering my education as we speak, to help make this a better transition. As an administrative assistant, I have acquired the personal requirements that I need to be an office manager. Being a good organizer has helped me make sure that my office is running smoothly. I have to work around a lot of people, so that means I have to be friendly and show fellow employees that I care about them.
It is very important to ensure that all staff members have the necessary skills and have undertaken suitable developmental activities to complete the work they are given. As a manager it is important to look over and carefully calculate the time and cost on a regular basis to make sure it’s cost effective so the organization isn’t losing money. Having regular consultations (meetings, brainstorming sessions, project groups etc.) are also highly expected from a manager as it provides prompt and constructive feedback to the employee. Which will help to suggest improvements that will increase resource efficiency and effectiveness; as employees use resources everyday to get there job done and will know what works and what doesn’t.
It is necessary for me to adopt characteristics from a variety of leadership styles based on the situation at hand. Regardless of the leadership activity needed, it is important to act with integrity, to set realistic goals, to communicate clearly and often, to encourage others, to recognize the successes of other team members, and to inspire them to provide the best of care. Hopefully my actions will be reflected by my staff in the care they give to our service users each day regardless of which style I practice. Management by walking about (MBWA) I use this style of leadership quite often in the workplace as this gives me the opportunity of observing team members interacting with our service users and evaluate the quality of care being delivered. It also lets staff know that I am interested in them and their work and lets them
Planning your team’s work One way to check that team members understand what work required of them is to obtain feedback from them. For example, when team members are given unfamiliar work to do, I will discuss with them how they plan to complete the task, offer advice, suggest where and how to find relevant information and ask to be kept informed of their progress. Monitoring your team’s work To monitor work: hold regular team meetings to discuss targets and workload. Ask for comments and suggestions, identify problem areas, but also discuss what is working well and how this might be applied to the problem areas. With a “mature” team this approach is quite successful in that team members feel comfortable sharing their views and feel able to ask for help with their work.
It always a benefit to know your competencies and personal profile cause it helps strengthen your skills that you already have and it help your build for the future in know what you have to do to move forward and be better at what you do. As for me meeting people and helping other is something that I love to do. Being an Administrative Assistant, I meet different ethnicity of people that need assistants with application or information on how to go about getting forms completed. I felt my education goal should be in the area where I meet and help people. I have a weakening of going over and beyond in helping people and I tend to go over and beyond with clients.
The ability to relate to your co-workers, inspire others to participate, and mitigate conflict with co-workers is essential given the amount of time spent at work each day. Leadership/Management Skills. While there is some debate about whether leadership is something people are born with, these skills deal with your ability to take charge and manage your co-workers. Multicultural Sensitivity/Awareness. There is possibly no bigger issue in the workplace than diversity, and job-seekers must demonstrate a sensitivity and awareness to other people and cultures.
Supervisions are regular, between myself and my manager. They are designed to help improve the way I work, they offer practical and guidance and support in areas that I need to improve. After supervisions are the appraisals. They evaluate what was covered in the supervisions to make sure that improvement is occurring and to set new goals. My supervisions are taken on shift, my manager will watch how I work, how I integrate with the team of staff and with the clients in the care home and put forward any ideas on what I could do differently but also explain what I am doing well.
How do you think managers can ensure that their performance behavior meets the requirements of the organization for which they work? It is important for a manager to have experience with and an understanding of the processes and procedures carried out by their team/department. Managers should be familiar with company schedules and deadlines, communicate these deadlines to their team and plan accordingly. They should also have a clear understanding of the company’s goals and objectives. A manger should report on and audit their team/departments overall productivity and outputs to ensure that time and recourses are being spent wisely.
One form of this communication is a verbal handover at the beginning and end of each shift, there is also the filling in of relevant communication books and care plans for each of the individuals you care for, this keeps others in the knowledge of the current situation in the work place with service users. The individuals you care for will communicate with you, their carers, to express their needs and preferences. 1.2 – Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work… Communication is an essential part of my job, it is the foundation of everything I do in work and effects every aspect of my job, it also effects those I work with, whether it be colleagues, management, parents of service users or professionals. I need to communicate with people all the time in order to care for my service users affectively. Most importantly are the service users, then
Practical intelligence is learned mainly by observing others behavior. Both intelligence traits are important in the workplace. Emotional intelligence at work gives the skills to respond to coworkers and evaluate situations appropriately. Practical intelligence at work gives the ability to realize what it takes to succeed, adapting to a constantly changing professional environment. Individuals you encounter on a daily basis will have varying degrees of intelligence.
