Conversation started February 20, 2012 2/20, 5:49pm Alana Joseph Alana Joseph Paper II September 29th, 2011 In the trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, similarities and differences can be found, when comparing how the case was handled in 1951 to how it would be dealt with today. Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg and Julius Rosenberg were married Jewish American communists who were declared guilty and then executed in 1951 for espionage. This trial was and still is a major monumental case in American History due to it’s highly controversial governmental over breaching. The trial became a game of “hot-potato,” constantly handing off the blame onto someone else. Julius Rosenberg worked as an engineer in labs for the Army Signal Corps in 1940, but was soon fired due to the United States fear of the new communist party. Rosenberg was previously a member of the party and was said to be have brought in by the spy Semyon Semenov who was known as a threat to the U.S. (Kostin) Rosenberg was first in question when Harry Gold was arrested in 1950 for being named when the U.S found out about major documents given to the Soviets during the war. Gold then named David Greenglass, brother of Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg. David went on to pass blame on the Rosenberg’s for being accomplices. David…show more content…
Although now the U.S isn’t worried about the idea of communism, we are tackling the threat of terrorism. And while we’re no longer in WWII, we are currently in a war in the Middle East and vigorously trying to fight the war on terror in our own country.
