3.04 Free from Fear

In President Roosevelt’s speech “The Four Freedoms” he discusses the fears of the people in 1941, the fear of war happened to be the main one of that time period. On the other had during President Obama’s speech of 2013 he also addressed the theme of a life free from fear, except his main focus point was being free of fear from terrorism. We as people have always been afraid but as time progresses our fears change. President Roosevelt mentions danger safety and defense in his speech a numerous amount of times. He quotes that “future of all the American Republics is today in serious danger”. That is because and that is because we (America) cannot predict the time, place or method of our enemies attacks. He then begins to talk about America’s national policy quoting that “we strengthen the defense and the security of our own nation” by doing the second step of our national policy. In President Obama’s speech he say that all of America’s citizens should be able to live free from fear. Though he has the same thought as Roosevelt the fear has changed from war to terrorist attacks. He quotes “we stand united in the defense of our countries and against those who would terrorize our people”. Even though the fears are different they are the same. They both present fear of attacks on America. Also they are at different times but that doesn’t stop these two presidents from thinking alike, meaning standing together united to come above the situation under any
