Most people fight for there religion everyday, how they should have the same freedom as everyone else while others don't agree. Imagine if you had grown up following a religion, that you thought was the only way to live, and then one day the government decides to make a law that doesn't follow or allow in the ways
Robb Chana English Miller When people arrive to America they expect to start a new life and pursue happiness. However, most of them will only find their lives to be harder as an individual living in America. America is made up to be a land that immigrants built a land of equal opportunity freedom and the pursuit for happiness. At least this is every immigrant’s perspective on America and American life. There is still a lot of unequal freedom for minorities and immigrants.
Diversity In America Jeffrey Douglas ETH 125 04/11/2013 Gail De Cina There is a lot of information about diversity in the United States that I did not understand before this class. Before the class I had heard about diversity in the work place but I never looked at what it can do for the United States. Before the class, I thought that diversity was just something that only affected the minority groups. I understand now that diversity is much more important and it can affect every group. I had always looked at diversity in terms of race but diversity works with different people from race, culture, sex, and age.
Living in America, I see individuals from different nationalities, backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, and abilities. Many people believe diversity means only cultural and racial differences; however, diversity is far more in dept. To (truly) understand diversity, one must understand, different races, cultural norms, backgrounds, and beliefs. Therefore in being accepted to the university of Maryland, I will gain understanding about all kinds of diversity because the University of Maryland is a microcosm of the American community. America is called a Melting Pot.
He did believe that the government should have the reins and be in control, but he always wanted the people of America with him every step of the way and to know what was going on. He never wanted them to not know what was going on and to never have to question what they were doing. In Document G, FDR says “The voice of great events is proclaiming to us. Reform if you would preserve.” Like stated earlier with Hoover, Conservatives are highly against change in government and want little to none to happen. Honestly though, sometimes it is the only way that you can improve.
Unfortunately there are still several countries that have child labor alive and well to this day. When fair labor practices are not being enforced, they should not even be considered as an active participant in international trade. Both countries and the companies in these countries should always seek to protect the workers who manufacture the countless items that are enjoyed by consumers around the world. It all comes down to ethics and everyone should want to establish the best practices and the fair treatment of all workers. Q2.
The theme of this book seems to be the oppressed fighting for freedom and equality. It is the battle between those who see a need for and want change and those who want everything to stay the same. This book highlights the importance of every person when it comes to affecting change, age and gender mean nothing in the fight for progress. In some instances the impact made by a child can be far greater than by a grown man. There will always have to be those who are willing to sacrifice everything they have, even their lives for progress and change, they are the people who become our heroes, along with all those who stood with them and choose not to back down in the face of adversity.
Martin Luther King Gave this speech to so many people because, He wanted to motivate people so they could see how wrong it is to treat people wrong just because they are different. His message was for all of us to live different. His message was for all of us to live in the same safe environment and have the same opportunities. Basically he wanted all of us to be united. According to Martins dream, I t means a lot to me because, he’s done so mu8ch for us in order to have all type of races have peace and share the same things.
Ch.3" para.4). These laws became an important step in the development of the issue of citizenship in the USA. Finally, voting laws also influenced greatly on American society. For decades only white men were allowed to vote, while slaves and women were deprived of this possibility (Field 114). However, abolitionist and women rights movements, which appeared as the answer to this discrimination, made society to rethink its priorities and create voting laws which took into account needs of all layers of society and guaranteed them the right to
Cultural Diversity in America Cultural diversity is so extremely important in our society. I have learned just how important education about different cultures, religions, and people really are. This class has opened my eyes to the fact that we are still fighting this battle against prejudices and discrimination in many different areas of our society; racially, gender, religious, and sexual orientation. I have found it quite shocking that so many minorities still are treated “less than” in places like jobs, housing, and just our in society in general. I have learned just how important it is to raise children un-biased, because they are our future leaders.
