Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and died on April 4, 1968. Martin Luther was born as Michael Luther King, Jr. but changed his name later in his life to Martin.

Many American’s now days wonder why we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr., and they fail to know the life and legacy this advocate of justice left imprinted in the lives of many Americans. King, Jr., was a man who showed compassion and who devoted part of his life to sow hope and healing into the lives of many oppressed blacks, he thought us through example the value of life, dignity, compassion and humility. Close your eyes and imagine Martin Luther King Jr. returning to the United States. If this were possible to happen, he would have a lot of thoughts running through his head. He would feel accomplished and I think he would know that he made a difference in the world today. He also would feel that he made many impacts in our world such as, segregation, the equal opportunities of African Americans and he would be very surprised to see Barack Obama a man of the African American race our new president of the United States. Martin Luther King Jr. made such a great impact on segregation.
Martin Luther King Jr. was also a prophet of peace and justice in a world torn by war in Vietnam”(K.M., University of Phoenix, 1992). Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life for equal rights in the United States for all people. His contributions motivated others to rise and educate themselves in the hope of equality for all. He taught others how to unite and organize themselves in a peaceful manner to fight against hate and bigotry in the United States. “One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity”(K.M., University of Phoenix, 2003).
It was a fitting tribute to a true hero of the times. This shows how much of an inspiring figure Martin Luther King Jr. was to every American citizen. He had paved the road for future African Americans. The world we currently live in today is because of MLK. His works and speeches had practically ended racial discriminations.

Martin Luther King Martin Luther King Martin Luther King was born on 15th January 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was originally born Michael Luther King but later changed his name to Martin. His father, Martin Luther King, was a Baptist minister and his mother a schoolteacher. He attended Booker T Washington High School, where he skipped ninth and twelfth grade and when straight to Morehouse College at the tender age of 15 without officially graduating from high school. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and then later graduated with a Bachelor of divinity from crozer Theological seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1951.
