It means treating people as individuals, with different skills and abilities, without making judgment based on stereotypes. It is based on fair equal, and courteous opportunities to all individuals, it should include the principle of treating people with fairness. It should also create a way of life where people of all backgrounds can feel appreciated and valued, and should be well established in health and social care services. The word diverse means “varied and different” so “diversity” is about more than equality. It is about valuing variety and individual differences and creating a culture, environment and practices which respect and value differences for the benefit of society, organisations and individuals.
Nielsen states ”I shall argue…that autonomy cannot be widespread or secure in a society which is not egalitarian: where, that is, equality is not also a fundamental value which has an operative role within the society” (Munson 708). This is to mean, as reconstructed above, that for a society to be autonomous (in that its citizens are “capable of self-direction” (708)) it must also be egalitarian. The first premise of Nielsen’s argument relies on the idea of “moral equality,” which is to mean, as Nielsen says, “the life of everyone matters and matters equally“ (708). From this definition, I propose that the first premise is a self-evident claim. Nielsen later states, “Liberty cannot flourish without something approaching this equality of condition, and people without autonomous lives will surely live impoverished lives….In fine, a commitment to achieving equality of condition, far from undermining liberty
sP1: Explain the concepts of equality, diversity and rights in relation to health and social care. Equality, diversity and rights are all important aspects when in relation to a health and social care setting. In a health and social care setting it is important that everyone is treated the same, no matter what their background is. Everyone has the right to be respected and accepted by health care professionals. Equality Equality is when everyone is regarded as the same regardless of individual factors; equality protects people from being discriminated against for being ‘different’.
Equality allows us to be valued as an individual with a right to our own beliefs and values. Equality enables us to create a fairer society where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. The definition of equality of opportunity requires that each individual should have access to the resources normally necessary for the full development of his/her capacities as a human being. These would include decent nutrition, access to health care, and access to education of comparable
For example if a company gives information about its policies only in English. 1.3 Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination. By supporting a person’s equality you are treating them as equal and including them in all activities, you will be reducing the likelihood of discrimination. 2.1 Identify which legislation and codes of practice relating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to your own role. Equality Act
Equality is define has “the state of been equal especially in having the same rights, status, and opportunity” Macmillan English Dictionary (2002) p.458. Equality is about making sure that people are given equal chance, that they are treated fairly. Equality is not about treating everyone in the same way, but meeting and recognising their needs are look and met in different ways according to what
Is there a difference between ‘equality of opportunity’ and ‘equality of outcome’? I will argue that equality of opportunity and outcome are not distinguishable. ‘Formal’ equality of opportunity doesn’t go far enough to equalise what should be equalised. Real equality of opportunity stipulates that all morally arbitrary factors should be equalised, but if you are saying this than you must consider things such as talent as morally arbitrary. If you endorse real equality of opportunity than it is unclear where to stop, and in the end equality of opportunity will just end up being equality of outcome because if you have to equalise everything, everyone will be end up being given the same.
In this outcome I will write the dictionary meaning and then explain in my own words. Then I will state which laws will promote the terms. And at the end I will relate the terms with any three sectors and explain it. Equality (Ajanta’s learner’s dictionary) the dictionary says” uniformity, evenness” This means giving equal chance/ opportunities and behaving or treating equally to all. According to equality people are not allowed to discriminate to other due to their culture, gender, disability, etc.
SHC33 – Promote Equality and Inclusion on Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young people’s Settings Explain what is meant by: Diversity Diversity is the valuing of our individual differences and talents, creating a culture where everyone can participate, thrive and contribute. There are so many ways in which people differ from each other ssuch as: Appearance, Ability, Gender, Race, Culture, Talent, Age and Beliefs. Equality Equality is a legal framework to protect against discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people with 'protected characteristics. It is very important that everybody is treated equal and the same. Inclusion Inclusion, this is the total opposite of discrimination and I think it means to be fully included, to make people feel valued and respected irrespective of ethnicity, gender, disability, medical or other need, culture, age, religion and sexual orientation.
Such as Gender, Height, Religion, Skin colour, Hair colour, Intelligence, Sexual orientation, Age, Social class. Equality. Equality is treating everyone in a way that is appropriate for their needs. Everyone should be treated as an individual, be given choice, be respected and be fully aware of their rights. Inclusion Inclusion is the action of including or of an individual being included.
