The environmental influences that my work, which is the educational field, has to address to survive are that of the technological, demographic/social, and government influences. These influences are forever going to affect my working field. The technological influence has a positive and negative affect on the educational field. Positively, without this influence my job as a computer teacher does not exist. I have the responsibility to introduce technology to students such as Microsoft Office and help them acquire typing skills that they will be able to use in their future careers. Negatively, the ever changing technology around the world makes my job difficult at times. It seems like every day something new is being added or updated. This ever changing environment has computer teachers, like myself, needing to update and adapt our curriculum every year so that our students stay up to date with the times. If the curriculum is not updated frequently, the students will suffer by not obtaining necessary skills to aid them in their futures and consequently the school district falls behind or becomes inadequate, possibly causing school closures. Demographics and social influences affect the education field greatly by expanding the education field. The more the population grows the higher the demand for schools become. With the demand for more schools, the demand for more teachers grow. Additionally, when the population grows and increases in diversity, the demand for specialized instructors becomes higher as well. With a diverse population, the need for ESL teachers, behavioral technicians, speech pathologists and more grow also. The governmental influences affect the education field by determining what standards students must be taught.
