Name Course Instructor Date Eradicating environmental issues The environment bonds together every person in the worldwide, and problems with the environment are binding us all together even more. Ironically, human beings are the cause of this predicament. Furthermore, they are the only ones who can reverse this problem. The quest to improve the environment involves two solutions. They include changing their way of life or transforming almost everything they use to eco-friendly products. It involves green and organic products. I believe that the best solution to environmental problems is a combination of these two solutions. However, they should be enhanced by being constantly aware of their actions. Using these solutions can help certain dire environmental consequences such as intensified greenhouse gases, depleted ozone layer, global warming, air pollution, and water pollution. The groundwork for this essay is an article by Monica Hesse titled “Buying Green Products Is an Inadequate Environmental Remedy”. As noted in the title, Hesse believes that people should not buy green products to improve the environment. Rather, they should reduce the amount of their purchases. Buying green would create a problem of consumerism which in turn would create environmental problems. According to Hesse, old things are less destructive in homes than when disposed. The overall population is moving into the tendency of green consumerism. A 33% increase in the sale of organic non-food products recorded between 2006 and 2009 (Organic Trade Association). Hesse does agree that individuals who purchase green products do have good objectives. However, she also believes that substituting old things is one of the causing factors of the environmental problems.
