By putting this article out at this time Krikorian could attempt to sway the opinion of those that would have otherwise voted yes on the bill. He would also be able to reinforce in the mind of those that agree with him that the bill is a major detriment to the country. This essay is written in order to inform the readers of major flaws in the DREAM Act and explain how it is encompassing more than the targeted youth. Reading through this paper I found it was easy to connect with the point that Mark Krikorian was trying to make as I share many of the same beliefs as the intended audience which I feel was the conservative group that found themselves on the fence in regards to the immigration issue. Krikorian states that the DREAM Act, the way it is currently written, is detrimental to maintaining any control on the illegal immigration.
Reporting All project submissions should be prepared as Word documents suitable for electronic transmission. Your PP1 report should consist of precisely 5 numbered pages. The first page is a cover sheet having on it only your name, course name, and number (Business Economics GM545), the academic term, and your e-mail address. After that, the response to each of the 3 reported exercises should be on a separate page. On each page, state the chapter and question number before answering it.
Also, the conclusion also did not review all the major points of the paper for the reader. The title page met most of the appropriate UOP guidelines. However, the running head had a formatting error and if you use a running head in the title page, it must be used on all pages of the paper. Citations were not used in the text. Remember, all references listed in the reference page must also be cited in the text.
Juan Williams properly wielded quotes and visually exciting words that captivated the audience. He appropriately shows both sides and makes sure that he doesn’t cast to large of a shadow over the opposing position. What was also nice about this piece was the amount of examples that showed that even though Obama has his flaws they are no better than the Republicans that are flinging “flip-flop” and “hypocrital politics” which shows the reader Williams’ belief that Obama is using cool tactics to lead a country in trying times. Williams’ opening and closing compliment and summarize his position on the Obama administration and gives order to the piece. William is also a credible and reliable source for information regarding politics since he is featured as a Fox News political analyst and writes for many large national newspapers such as The New York Times and The Hill and including national magazines such as Times.
The transition of the paragraphs is acceptable with topic sentences, which are well explained. However, Gladwell distracts at one or two places from his theme. In spite of all this, Gladwell’s transition from the body of the article to the end is smooth, which makes it a readable article. It is an informative article, but whether it persuades someone against purchasing an SUV, I doubt
He was journalist and capitalist and he put the skills he had learned in those professions to work when he served as American's ambassador in London and Paris. Franklin biographer Isaacson wrote that Franklin "believed in having humility to be open to different opinions. For him that was not merely a practical virtue but a moral one as well. It was based on the tenet, fundamental to most moral systems, that every individual deserves respect. During the Constitutional Convention, for example, he was willing to compromise some of his beliefs to play a critical role in the conciliation that produced a near-perfect document."
Criticism to Technopoly Abraham C. Vanegas University of Maryland University College Advance Writing 391 As I read Technopoly by Neil Postman my view of technology changes little by little. Although at first after reading the synopsis in the back of the book and the introduction I thought this might be just another book criticizing technology severely, I came to find the view of this author very interesting and at some point even realistic. Potsman is a knowledgeable person, his position as faculty and writer are very clear in his writing and his main idea, which is to keep one eye open when allowing technologies in our lives is actually something that after reading his book I will take into consideration. From the beginning of his book he explains how introducing new things to our life have changed the way we are in some sort of way since the old days. “A new technology does not add or subtract something.
Is it right to assign dollar values to a person’s life? Do suffering and illness impact how we should value life? Assume that the audience for your piece consists of intelligent citizens interested in this issue—the same types of people, for instance, who would read Time magazine. As you write your essay, think about the different ways the authors we have read make their points about valuing life. Depending on the points you are trying to make, you might want to use some metaphors for life, as Hamlet does, or share observations and anecdotes the way Chris Jones does.
When we use the internet, we expect to search for and receive results from a wide range of thoughts and ideas, where we go and who we listen to is our prerogative. Now with that power, comes the responsibility to understand that there will be extremes and to balance and weigh the credibility of the sources we are provided with. Freedom of speech and freedom of information are two ideals, no, rights that our country was founded upon. Regulation of the internet would infringe upon our first amendment rights and therefore cannot be considered. We live in a great democracy with many rights and freedoms that other citizens of the world don’t have.
Even though these pieces of text share the same theme, the target audience for the story is mainly aimed at young adults, whereas the article is aimed at a general public, such as adults aged 18 and above, who are well-educated and also for those who interested politics. In terms of structure and layout, Text A is written in a continuous prose and in the first person consisting of subjective personal pronouns such as “I”, and “You”, enabling the readers to actively engage themselves in the story, by providing an emotional and intimate connection between the author and the reader. It is also set in modern times and has a formal tone making the story more realistic. In addition to that, it is mainly written in the present tense which conveys a sense propinquity and impetuosity. However, because the main character continuously has flashbacks, it is also written in the past tense making certain events, for example the description of the trip to Cotswold Meadow and the murder of his daughter, both objective and reflective.
