I made this choice because for me music has always been a great thing to turn to when things became rough, my favourite songs are the ones that I can relate to, music is something that always stayed the same even though everything else in my life was completely changing. My main goals and hopes are to tell people about the positive effects of music on our body, health, emotions and society; try to prove that the media is wrong for blaming music for violence in today's world and get to know more about my topic. In general, music can be considered to be the six elements : rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, dynamics and form. Music is also used to help people, for example music therapy. But in our modern world, music means different things to different people.
If the producer is talented he can take anyone’s voice and use a popular style known as ‘autotuning’. Autotuning is the act of taking someone’s voice and bending it to specific notes and bends pitches to keep someone’s voice in tune through computer programs and software. Without the hassle of keeping their voice in tune or staying in a specific key, a rapper can easily just talk through his songs as well as not have to sound well at all. Autotuning (which is very prominent in today’s rap music) takes the skill out of singing at all, thus leaving me to believe that with autotune, any one of us can be a rap artist. ------------------------------------------------- Song crafting has been a key element of being a musician for hundreds of years.
I believe very stongly in the power of music to influence people’s lives. Dictionary.com defines music as “an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.” The path I have chosen in this world is that of Opera performance. I live and learn through music, and it certainly has power over me. Where not everyone can perform music, a smaller amount of people can read music, and an even smaller amount still can compose music, everyone in the world can listen to music. It is recognized all over the world, and it has the ability to bring people together in times of joy, tragedy, war, and peace.
Electric drums can now capture the clarity as well as the delicate sounds that acoustic drums are well known for. Some people however, prefer the sound of electric over acoustic because of the fact that everything is pre-tuned and no extra work is necessary to make your kit sound flawless. Others though, prefer acoustic because of the simple fact that its natural and authentic, and cannot be captured by anything technological. Another factor to have in mind when comparing these, is the feel (rebound) and response of the drum
So really, there is no way to recognize a good style from a bad style because it is all just opinion, but you can take notice to the fact that everyone acts, dresses, speaks and writes in their own way. I find it important for myself to consider my style choices because I feel that style shows the world who you are and what your character is. On that note, Nicki Minaj definitely shows her choice of style in a very popular music video called “Super Bass.” I myself find it very interesting that this music video has become so popular. I find the song itself to be repetitive and a little annoying, with more than half of the lyrics consisting of boom, badoom and yeah he got that super bass. Without even watching and just listening to the video one can get a sense of Nicki Minaj's speaking or rather, “singing”, style.
Learning a piece from memory has so many different positive factors and develops a musician to the best of their ability. Although it can be difficult to do and master, it is worth the hard work. The end result seems to be much more rewarding than if the score was being used in a performance. Firstly, memorizing allows the performer to connect with their audience. A score can really prohibit a relationship between the two.
The enormous contrast between the two is that to play an instrument you need finer motor skills than you do to simply listen to music. As I mentioned earlier on playing an instrument is a full brain workout. We mainly use the visual, motor, and auditory lobes to accomplish this task. Something that I find interesting is how playing an instrument actually strengthens your Corpus Callosum. The Corpus Callosum, or bridge between the two hemispheres of the brain gets to be strengthened because of the constant communication between the left and right sides of the brain while you play.
Alexia Tristant 11/26/08 The Brain Loves Music Do you ever play music because it makes you feel energized and more eager to do what you need to do? Does music help you relax and reflect on ideas? Has music ever stimulated your creativity? This is probably true in most people because music has a dominant effect on humans and their behaviors; it plays an important biological role in human life. Neurobiologist Mark Jude Tramo of Harvard Medical School states: “music is a biologically part of human life, just as music is aesthetically part of human life (Brewer).” This essay will explain why music is an indispensable part for a successful education.
Maybe it’s just me and a few other people that view music not as a tool or commodity, but as something much more. I view music as an expression of someone’s soul and thinking. My love for music comes second to the love that I have for my mom and I would die for my mom. I love the way music powerfully conveys most of our human emotions. It’s the world’s universal language; it defies all boundaries of race, religion, creed, or sect.
It unites the community in the pursuit of a common goal – Potter.” Although some of the allegations may be true about the people of today’s social “universes” becoming smaller with the use of technology, there is proof that technology can do the opposite as well. It is how we use it that it will affect us. And although Kidd has a good argument for novels such as Harry Potter bringing the people of the world together, music has an even better argument. One thing people will always share and that will unite us all is music and the effect it has on us. No matter what type of music you prefer to listen to, there are others out there who listen to, not only the same style of music but the same musicians as well.
