Discuss the relationship between stress, anxiety, habits and phobias and Describe How You Would Treat these Issues with Hypnotherapy First of all let’s look at what stress, anxiety, habits and phobias are. Stress and anxiety are often thrown together to mean the same thing, almost into one phrase. However there is a distinction between the two but it is quite important to be able to let the difference. Stress is a response to an external stimulant, resulting in feelings of frustration, anger and apprehensiveness. Stress is however a reaction to outside pressures. These pressures can vary from work, family, or social, to changes in a person’s environment or life style. These changes can be small thing like having to use a different bus route to major life changes sure as marriage. All these situations stimulate the fight or flight response, thereby releasing hormones such as adrenaline around the body and heightening the senses so that a person is ready to respond. This is isn’t always a negative reaction, in fact from a evolutionary point of view it would have been this very reaction that has allowed the human race to continue to exist and flourish. But there is a point at when this is no longer healthy and begins to have a negative effect. Stress is categorised into six varieties. These vary in the severity of how badly it effects the individual and the difficulties it will cause. Hypostress is when a person is stuck in a monotonous life and thus finds themselves bored and unmotivated. Eustress is that stress which everyone will have had at some point and is considered healthy and necessary. It is what motivates and drives people to meet their deadlines, goals and challenges.
