Mothers of children age range birth to two years attending the outpatient department of pediatrics participated in the study by filling out a
A reflective account of blood glucose monitoring simulated skills. This essay reflects upon blood glucose monitoring skills that was learnt at the skills Laboratory, and experienced during my clinical practice with a diabetic service user. Blood glucose monitoring is a way of gaining an indication concentration of glucose blood, thereby allowing diagnosis and treatment of a condition, (Endacott et al, 2009). In the United Kingdom (UK), it was predicted that the current 2.6 million people diagnosed with diabetes will peak to over 4 million by 2025, (Diabetes UK, 2010). According to Endacott et al 2009, monitoring blood glucose has a vital role to play in minimising the development of such complications as retinopathy, neuropathy, cardiovascular disease and stroke.

The NDNQI is a benchmarking tool hospitals can utilize to improve their outcomes for specific nurse-sensitive indicators. Nurses can compare themselves to similar nursing units locally, regionally or nationally. The results can be used to for decision making regarding nursing care, patient outcomes, patient safety and nurse satisfaction (Hendren, 2011). NDNQI uniquely measures nursing care from the nursing unit levels which empowers nursing units to improve care (Hinshaw, 2011). At the unit level “you might discover that one unit has had few catheter-associated urinary tract infections than another unit with a similar patient population.
Noncompliance, due to the several steps and time pressure, and variation in the manual method is believed to be at fault. It was decided to trial the use of SwabKit® in early 2010 on the critical care units, medical-surgical units, and step down units. They used the caps on central venous catheters (CVCs), peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), and peripheral intravenous (PIVs). The trial was successful, so they decided to implement use of the kits hospital wide in July 2011. After a two month adjustment period, the hospital began to record data on the use of SwabKit®.
33(2). 138-142. This article review the evidence for the most common dietary modification employed in the treatment of autism and ADHD, including historical background information regarding dietary treatment in children with behavioral disorder from evidence-based literature published over the past two decades (Cormier et al., 2007). Cormier and Elder (2007) said currently, with mounting concern about the efficacy and safety of medications, health care providers and families are seeking alternative approaches to treatment for child behavior and/ or developmental problems associated with autism and ADHD. Cormier et al., (2007) stated that dietary intervention have been studied by placing the child on a restricted diet for a period of time and then challenging them with the offending food component versus placebo, or placing different groups of children on diets that differ only in respect to the offending agent like sucrose versus artificial sweetener.

Current Health Promotion Pamphlet Paper Mary Penny-Johnson Developing and Evaluating Educational Programs/ Nur 588 Jennie Pattison Current Health Promotion Pamphlet Health promotion and disease prevention are an important role of nurses, physicians, and health organizations. Patients that are active participants in their own health care understand their responsibility in managing their care. Additionally, health promotion decreases hospital stays and may prevent disease related complications. In 2006 health care related spending exceed two-trillion dollars in the United States (Jadelhack, 2012). A huge amount of money is saved by promoting health and educating the public on preventable health problems (Goetzel, 2009).
II C LITERATURE RELATED TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF STAFF NURSES RELATED TO THE PREVENTION OF VENTILATOR ASSOCIATED PNEUMONIA Mercene T P conducted a study on Improving Quality of Care for Mechanically Ventilated Patients in Long-Term Care Through Full Compliance with the Ventilator Bundle Protocol in Walden university , US (2016). In-depth interviews were conducted with 15 staff nurses from the site on their knowledge of VAP and the ventilator bundle. Through ground theory analysis the study proved that the staff nurses had poor understanding and compliance with the Ventilator Bundle protocol. The research concluded that the evidence from this study could yield a quality improvement model for long-term-care facilities and ventilator units in particular and the goal was to improve nursing staff’s knowledge about VAP and the ventilator bundle, reduce VAP morbid]ity and mortality, and ensure that mechanically ventilated patients receive the best quality of care (37). Amina I, Badawy conducted a study on the Impact of the Structured Teaching Program for Prevention of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia on Knowledge and Practices of Intensive Care Staff nurses at Central Quwesna Hospital, Eygpt (2014) where in a quasi experimental study was utilized and the samples included were the 30 staff nurses.
