Adolescents with diabetes require a high-level of knowledge and self-care to optimize glycemic control, prevent complications. During adolescence, young diabetics are learning to care for themselves and take responsibility for management of their disease. Forty-one children with mean age (12.6 years), and their mothers, were administered the 24-hour recall interview on three separate occasions to assess diabetes-related self-care behaviors. The mothers were assessed for their knowledge, attitude and their practice for good control of the disease (dietary practice and compliance). The program was evaluated three months later. It showed a significant improvement in the knowledge of the disease and self care practices (daily screening of blood, urine glucose and medication). In Egypt, Abdo and Mohamed ( 2010) examined the effectiveness of health education program for diabetic patients attending Zagazig University diabetes clinic. The study was carried out on 122 randomly, from January 2009 to April 2009. The study showed that health education was an effective tool that implicated change in diabetic patients' knowledge, attitude towards diabetes, random blood sugar and HbA1c levels. A quazi-experimental study with pre-post assessment conducted by Ali (2011) to estimate the effect of nursing care programs provided for diabetic patients at Helwan hospitals.
