“Traffic deaths from drunken driving have fallen steadily, with those involving teenagers 16 to 19 declining by 39.1 percent from 1982 to 1990, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)”. (Clark, 1992). Even though drinking and driving is a crime thousands of teens continue to get behind the wheel and kill thousands of innocent people in alcohol related crashes every year. There are drunken accidents because teens don’t take drinking and driving seriously. Teens just want to feel the pleasure and they want to feel good but don’t think about the other people or even there selves that they can kill on the road.

A lot of young children die in drunk driving accidents every year, so finding a solution to this problem can save many lives. The reason all this is a problem is because teenagers tend to think there invincible and can drive under the influence but really they have no idea what there getting themselves into. Most kids miss judge the amount of alcohol they've consumed and when they get behind the wheel think there okay but in reality there way over the legal of drinking. I found there's only one solution to this problem.
A Social Problem In America alone people take about two hundred and thirty three trips in cars each year, of all these, one out of two thousand of these trips are being taken by drunk or drugged individuals. Statistics show that one of three traffic tragedies involve drunk drivers. Approximately nine thousand eight hundred seventy eight people died in car crashes in the year 2011. Due to these high numbers it was determined that this was a social problem in which the whole nation should pay close attention
The West Virginia Chemical spill had occurred several times before. The government is not looking at the safety of the citizens and only at how the chemical spill could bring profit to the economy. The government was also the one to shut down all schools in the regions because they were concerned of the safety of the children. But they only shut down the school for a day because they could not afford to loose any more money in the economy then they already did. The government stated, “All business and government offices will reopen Monday.” That is a day after the chemical spill.
In fact, every 30 minutes, someone in this country dies in a alcohol-related crash. Every 30 minutes! How would you feel if you lost a family member to such a simple avoidable mistake? Each year drunk driving is responsible for about 25% of deaths. The Loss of loved ones; loss of important family members and loss of friends resulting from irresponsible drunk drivers on the road are tragic and permanent.
I witnessed and endured a lot of things that most non-native children probably had not been through. I saw the persons go to prison, and the peoples die from complications due to alcoholism. The children in grade school now drink, do drug, and go to jail. Some people have dropped out of school. The shock of seeing the people who should have a good future being sucked in to the vicious cycle of reservation life is close to unbearable, but it is the norm in this area.
This amounts to one death every 48 minutes. The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $51 billion. In 2010, 10,228 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States [1]. It is not morally correct to drive a vehicle after having consumed excess amounts of alcohol. Social drinking may be one of the only responsible ways to consume alcohol.
But the organization continues to struggle to prevent deaths, eliminate drunk driving, and deal with juvenile drinking. The organization provides the one of the biggest victim support services in the United States. Support is offered to a victim once every eight minutes. A twenty-seven percent decrease in deaths due to drunk driving was noted since 2006. A reduction in juvenile drinking was also noted.
Another crash. Another death. Another crime. Over the past year more than 6,000 people died because they where texting while driving. If you take your eyes off the road for just a second you can risk your entire life.
Riley Bartlett 5/17/11 Every year thousands of underage teens are dying from alcohol related accidents. Around 28% of fatal traffic crashes involving teens are alcohol related. Does the United States keep the drinking age 21, and enforce it strongly or lower the drinking age and teach teenagers to drink in moderation not binge drinking? Even though the Legal drinking age is 21, not everyone believes it should stay that age. Prohibition failed in 1920-1933 which shows that strict regulation of drinking is counterproductive, unenforceable, and leads to an increase in legal underground activity.
