The anger is also shown throughout the movie as Edwards personal servant Thomas gets verbally abused throughout the film and this a perfect example of how people with a certain trouble in their lives try to distance themselves from that pain by taking it out anger on someone. This often helps though as anger has been proven to help heal yourself mentally during harsh and dark times in your life such as the one Edward faces. The character of Edward Cole goes through bargaining process halfway through the film when Edward and his close friend Carter Chambers are consoling with each other they find their own guilt’s within themselves. These guilt’s range from carter not loving his wife and kids as much as he could have and Edwards guilt is that he had a falling out with his daughter and hasn’t reconciled with her yet and his relationship with her is not what he wanted and they both start subconsciously wishes that they could do things all over again

War is a time of devastation and destruction; a time where people are forced to suffer from traumatic and horrendous experiences. These experiences of war can last a life time and can affect victims through post-traumatic stress developed due to the experience.

However, it is difficult to believe that Cathy chose to be evil to the extreme that Steinbeck depicts. He described every moment of her life as being devoted to bringing other people down, and pulling herself up. She achieved this through devious schemes that trapped many important men in compromising positions, and also by clever plots that allowed her to take over one of the most successful whore houses in Salinas. Cathy was a secretive person who went to great measures to cover her past and her feelings. In turn, chosen isolation combined with the lack of love is a clear identification of the source of her evil, which is
For example, in this passage we understand that Norah is struggling with the grief of her lost daughter and doesn't want to let go of her memory, "Phoebe she would keep alive in her heart." (88) It helps us understand the reasoning behind her actions of drunk driving, dreams of lost things, and escalated emotion at random as well as other actions the character demonstrates through out the novel. The deception of her daughter effects Norah and explains why she bought the camera,"...So he'd capture every moment, so he'd never forget. "(88) Norah doesn't want her husband, sister and not even neighbours to dismiss her daughter as unimportant. Norah's great pain because of the "death" of her child causes her to be scared of change, she wishes she could capture a happy moment, and stay in that moment-perhaps forever. "

Medea Discussion Question #2 I actually think that Medea is the victim compared to Jason being the villain, although not entirely. I think this evidenced during a conversation between the nurse and the tutor, “Nurse: Oh, what an enemy Jason’s proved to those he should have loved! Tutor: What human being is not?” (Lines 15-16). They are both shown to have had their feelings of love with near absolute abhor. I think Medea deserves pity in certain situations, such as in the beginning and the events leading up to the murders, when she is shown crying out in the beginning of the play, “The pain of misery!
In Julia’s world she thought the she was living a normal life. Since she did not remember her past she has no reason to think that danger was going to come again. Julia “would ‘go somewhere else’; she would ‘not be there’” (Stout 387). Julia was able to dissociate her mind from the abuse that was going on around her without even trying. Dissociating herself from her past caused Julia to put herself in many dangerous and confusing situations throughout her life.
In the story, “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson,” by Rowlandson, Rowlandson, breaks down the cruel experiences she had to go through in order to survive all the hardships. She was captive in a war, where she had no way to escape. Rowlandson states, “Now is the dreadful hour come, that I have often heard of (in time of war, as it was the case of others), but now mine eyes see it.” By sharing this comment, she is able to show us how life was really like during the war, and how much people suffered. Not only did she suffer while the war was occurring, but the fact that she had lost her baby in the war devastated her. She felt as she had lost a part of her life.
