Safeguarding is about much more than just protecting children from direct abuse. Any and all services that work with children and young people has a wide rrole than simply protecting them from neglect and abuse. A big part of safeguarding to ensuring the protection from harm or abuse to children and ensuring their safety at the setting and at home. Also asking sure that all staff members that work with children know what to do if there is a suspicion of abuse happening and they know what to do next. Also supporting and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people and ensuring that this is being promoted in and out the setting to all children and young people. Always making sure that the child and young person fulfill of the opportunties which all children and young people should be offered. Discrimination is also within the wider concept of child protection. All children and young people should all be treated equality and their needs should always be meet with the support from staff members. Children and young people should always be offered the same opportunities as their peers and should always be respected. Children and young people should never be discriminated of treated different because of their sex, color, race, sexuality, reilious beilefs or background. The wider consent also includes making relations with parents and children. Having a relation with parents can make staff member jobs easier and they can give information to the staff members about the child on a daily basis. They can also tell staff members of any concerns they have of the child and with support can hopefully resolves these concerns. Also by having a relationship with they child ot young person it can help them to be able to talk to someone they trust. If the child or young person has a good relationship with a staff member that child is more likely to talk to that staff member
