They have many equal opportunities as well as men. Their social status has risen over the past years that have lifted their status. Many women today are entrepreneurs who own companies within and abroad and have shown great success. They can handle even the jobs that were believed to be a mans job such as, police officers, firefighters and drivers. However, in some places women still face the challenge of discrimination in their expertise. They came into light when one of their own, Alfred Redl died in 1913 by committing suicide for being identified as one of them. In the past, they were considered as sinful in the society and nobody could associate with them. They face also of health risks in the society and their main goal is social equality in the society. They have not been able to secure jobs from the past because people had been looking down upon them. This group is looked into as a minority group in America. Question 5 Presently, the LGBT community has made their occurrence more known in the US with the support of president Obama. Obama once delivered a speech considering these people and emphasized on setting rules and laws to protect the LGBT from violence and inequality. These people are protected by the law and often commit crimes but cannot be convicted like other people. They are allowed to legal benefits and allowances to the same sex domestic partners.
