The issue of women’s liberation from the oppression found in society and in marital relationships is the subject of literature that projects a feminist point of view. goodAlthough the culture and time of “The Story of an Hour” and “Country Lovers” are different, they share three thingscolon; rejection of societal expectations, rejection of gender or racial roles, and the limited abilities to search for fulfillment of self. Both stories are similar in that the women are basically victims of the place in which society expects them to be as far as marital and family roles. They are stories about the expectations that society has bestowed upon women and how many times those roles are simply not in tandem with what women want or need.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton fought for women to have legal rights, have better jobs, and higher education, even though many men shunned her. First off, many women fought against the laws that discriminated against them. In 1848, Stanton met with four other women for a social meeting. They decided to form a convention and get together to “discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of women (Brown).” This convention was called The Seneca Falls Convention. The women campaigned for full female equality.
Whenever we go through the records of roman women's status in society there is always a great consternation. Several sources or journals which mention the roles of women in ancient roman society, several works which mention them as wives and mothers. There are sources however limited they may be which delve deeper into the scope of these questions, which give a glimpse into the lives of roman women. Woman in artwork has been portrayed as the guarantor of bounty and fertility. Roman women throughout their life from childhood and education to marriage and further in the motherhood had played a great role in society of that time.
Tokenism and Women’s Promotion in the Entertainment Business Tokenism is preventing women’s promotion in the entertainment industry. Tokenism in the workplace has been an issue for women ever since women started working in male-dominated jobs. This is also seen in the entertainment industry where it is also a male dominated sector and women are being tokens in expense of their gender and desire to be an artist. But, when women are being chosen for the same roles, the same sound and look, their opportunities for promotion are being prevented tremendously, limiting them to do only certain jobs. Media is how we change the view of the world and when women are constantly generalized and understated as such, not only are the women who are in the entertainment industry are affected, but so is the way the society looks at women is.
This story makes people view of how women’s thoughts were in the 19th century. Some major parts of the story that help understand it are the setting in which everything is happening, the symbols, and the characters. The 19th century was a time in the world where women were of inequality, brutality, and inadequacy to males. The only way for a woman to be a part of any social status was depended solely on her marital status. Due to this many women were felt as being alone and inferior which forced them into depression.

I personally don’t believe one can measure this “power” on such a large scale. Both sexes have areas in which they can be considered superior, but only as a generalization. For example, not all men are stronger than all women. Some guys are shrimpy.
IAH 201: U.S. & The World (D) The Women’s Rights Movement Starting In the early 1800s women began to question their general role in society and how it is unjust and unfair. Interestingly the educated radicals and working class women in early 1800s were still concerned with the roles and rights of women, they did not classify suffrage as being the prominent issue. The idea of women’s suffrage did not become the primary goal of the Women’s rights movement until around the 1850s, and then remained the primary goal up until 1920 when women finally achieved the right to vote. Further, there were many significant male and female figuresthat played crucial roles in the Women’s rights movements that eventually led to, but didn’t stop at, the achievement of women’s right to vote in 1920. It was in the early 1800s when women began to question various issues such as their roles in society and their rights as a woman, or their lack of rights and unjust inequality in comparison to males.
Throughout the past few decades, women in the workforce have gained equality. Many professions have seen an increase in the number of women in the workforce while other professions have not seen as much progress. Gender biased jobs have changed as well; jobs that were once known as women’s jobs now have more men working in the field and jobs that were once known as men’s jobs now have a rising number of women workers. The workforce has seen women make a lot of progress; however women still have a ways to go. Women have made a large amount of progress in higher paying jobs with high prestige.
Changes in Women’s Rights over the Last Century Nichole ENG 121 Matthew Bamberg November 3, 2010 Throughout the last century, women’s rights in the United States have changed drastically. The roles that women play in our country, along with the way they are viewed by society have also changed. During this essay I will explain how women’s voting and political rights have evolved, how society views women’s roles in the home, and the way that women have developed in the job force from the beginning of the last 100 years until now. Until the year 1920, when the 19th amendment was created, women were not able to vote in the United States (Linder, 2010). Their political views were not relevant and men were the only Americans considered eligible to determine the way the country was operated.

These days, many women have trouble feeling equality in the career and leadership world. Are the barriers women feel against them due to society’s views?
