Course #: ENG 1101 September 15, 2011 Conformity is an adaptation in behavior due to the real or imagined influence of others. Conformity is the tendency to support our manner, beliefs, and behaviors with those around us. It's a powerful energy that can take the form of observable social force or subtler unconscious. As much as we like to think of ourselves as individuals, the fact is that we're determined to fit in, and that frequently means going with the flow. Conformity is a social observable fact that affects people’s behavior and opinion. How conformity affects you in all aspects of your life? I personally believe conformity can be view as Positive as well as Negative. As long as you don’t Fall into it and lose your integrity as a human being. Creatively you can be different. Political Views for Conformity for Instance; our city/states law we have to abide every day. If we don’t we can be fine even get thrown in confinement. But we have to Conform to these rules for the reason that every person views and actions are different. How can we have order in our own society? We must have laws to live civilize as well as to progress. Political conformity is that we are doing what others are doing, we have no personalities or ideas of our own; we are not leaders; we are followers; we are traditionalist. Another Example is; in the United States of America we have to obey with the regulations by driving on the right side of the road which is beneficial conformity to us by preventing accidents and in addition making traffic more proficient. Some Conformity is beneficial to us as my examples demonstrate. Emerson gave a good case in point on Conformity by way of religion. Cultural conformity of religion is that it so eagerly assumes the morals values of the leading culture in which it finds itself. Emerson called the parish minister a “Retained Attorney”. As
