I believe that this is a powerful statement, because there have been countless times that I have logged onto my Facebook and they have had popups telling me to share my phone number and all of my personal information and in my opinion when you log onto your networking site you don’t want to share all of your personal information. Although Facebook realized that they are not doing their part with privacy issues and released a ‘Groups’ section so that people could communicate and talk through
It created trust between us. Twitter allows us to quickly and efficiently solve and problems our consumers may have, as well as tell them thanks for being there. Pinterest lets our consumers know what the brands interests are . The brand can post pictures and short videos about what appeals to us, what changes we are trying to implement in our business and what we think on a daily basis. As our consumers view our pins and re-pin them our brand is exposed to new consumers as well as untapped markets.
You cannot” (Bazalgette p.1). It says that what have put online once is permanent and there is no assurance that the post, tweet, photo, video or anything can ever be removed from the cyber world. In this way, social media is threatening the privacy of society by pulling out the unwanted past in future. The author also says about the new generation, “a generation is voluntarily surrendering its privacy on a hitherto unimaginable scale” (Bazalgette p.1). New generation likes to use social media as self advertisement and sometime they share very personal information.
Thompson suggests that Twitter is a very useful tool. “…I’m more knowledgeable about the details in her life, than the lives of my two sisters in Canada, who I talk to only once every month or so” (Thompson, 2011). The author argues that social media websites like Facebook have made it possible to quickly see and share photos as well as be updated on what someone is doing or how they are feeling in an instant. In the beginning Facebook was primitive and the concerns about privacy were abundant which made a lot of Facebook users feel uneasy. Zuckerberg made changes to modernize Facebook by creating a News Feed which gave us easier access to what people were doing.
Only one person was willing to meet him face-to-face. Hal, at that moment, realized that you can’t establish human connections online because Facebook is impersonal. You aren’t really talking to a human, you are typing on a keyboard. One thing that is missing from online social media is personal information. People do not generally post things that are important.
Rhetorical Reading: “Is Facebook Making Us Lonely?” In Stephen Marche’s article “Is Facebook Making Us Lonely?” (2012), Marche claims social media is a cause of many people becoming isolated from the world. He uses the story about Yvette Vickers to give us an example of how social networks can interfere with our lives. Marche’s purpose for this article is show how social media can make us lonely in order to get us to not use it as often as we do. His attended audience is anyone who is interested or uses social media. I can’t relate to this article because I do not believe Facebook can make anyone lonely.
It’s easy for a person to create a factitious profile and use these anonymous profiles. In Bugeja’s essay they say Facebook forbids such fabrications because of their “Terms of Service,” but is still possible for creators to create fake profiles that look real. Again, in his essay it’s stated that all you see on Facebook is an image. You don’t see that person face-to-face so identities are constructed and easily manipulated. Facebook is an interesting example of
It’s funny how the universe throws things at you. Over the last few weeks, I’ve come across several different sources that all recommend updating your Twitter account and your Facebook status separately. That was news to me. I’ve been allowing Twitter to post my tweets to Facebook for a long time and thought it was just too convenient to pass up. Of course, I supplemented my facebook feed with additional, more personal information, but I couldn’t see the harm in letting Twitter updates show up there too.
2/18/13 Marketing Social Media I would describe social media as exactly as it sounds, media that uses and requires social interaction. Its also a way for businesses to reach their customers other than tv and billboard ads. I use social media everyday including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more. It allows me to connect with people I do not talk to everyday. They are also fun and a good way to waste time.
One of the biggest ways that big companies try to access the youth through advertisement is through social media. A Haunted House uses twitter Hashtags and a facebook Like Page to access it's target audience. All of the social media advertising has the same feel and message “You are young, we are young, you should watch this”. By using the twitter Hashtag, it allows the target audience to do most of the advertisement. Every time someone tweets using the Hashtag #AhauntedHouse, it shows up on the Hashtags timeline search and you could see what everyone is saying about the movie.
