Abstract Communication is initiated by the sender transferring a message to a receiver. For the communication to be effective the receiver must understand the meaning of this message. How we choose to facilitate a message can determine how successful we are at completing tasks. There are many forms of communication that range from low channel richness to high channel richness depending on if the message is seemingly routine or non-routine. Choosing the correct communication channel to effectively convey a message is imperative. Some are rich in that they can (1) handle multiple cues simultaneously, (2) facilitate rapid feedback, and (3) be very personal (Robbins & Judge, 2010). For example, Robbins & Judge state that communication channels such as live speeches, telephone conversations, video conferences and face-to-face conferences tend to have higher channel richness respectively. Reports, memos and email are considered to have low channel richness because of their impersonal nature (2010, p. 358). Communication Channel Scenarios After reviewing the three given scenarios, I will give my suggestions for the best possible choice of communication channel. My recommendations are based on my readings of Robbin & Judge’s book, “Organizational Behavior”. In each scenario, I will also discuss the different directions of communication that are taking place as well as any global and cultural implications that may need to be addressed. Scenario 1 As Marketing Manager, I have received valuable feedback from my Vice President of Operations. I have been informed that our new beverage has been so well received in the United States that I have been given the privilege of introducing our product globally. I will immediately schedule a meeting and send out email appointment invites to inform my team of the good news and that we must meet to develop a strategy for
