The French were not as ruthless. The Spanish first landed in the Caribbean in 1492. After Columbus arrived back in Spain, Ferdinand and Isabella sent him back out to conquer this New World. Columbus an Italian believed he could sail west across the Atlantic and reach India. With sponsorship from the Spanish Monarch Columbus, with 3 ships and 90 sailors discovers the New World. He arrived at the Bahamas first encountering the Arawak Indians. Columbus never in his lifetime acknowledged that what he discovered was not India. Millions of natives in the New World died due to European illness making it easier for the Spanish Conquistadors to move in and take over much of the Americas.
Later it was along the West African coast. Slaves ended up on sugar plantations the Portuguese had set up on the tropical islands off Africa’s coast. Spain was jealous of Portugal’s success with exploration and slaving. It was when Isabella and Ferdinand were sad by the fact that Portugal was getting powerful when Christopher Columbus convinced them to fund his expedition to Asia. Columbus’s goal was to reach East Indies by sailing west.

By the end of the 16 century, other European monarchies had begun to contest Spain’s dominion in Europe and to make forays into the northern fringes of Spain’s New World preserve. In 1588, England defeats Spanish Armada. England seized hold of the Spaniard’s new world domain. They also started their colonization and immigration because of England overpopulated and agricultural goods need.
De Leon was pronounced the first European to step foot on new land, he called Florida. Ponce De Leon, a Spanish explorer was searching for the Foundation of Youth, which was said to be in the Bahamas but discovered the land we know as Florida and its features. In 1493, Ponce de León sailed with Christopher Columbus on Columbus' second voyage to the Americas. Juan and his family settled on an island named Hispaniola in the Caribbean. De Leon was one of the first Europeans to see the small island of Borinquen, which is the Indian name for Puerto Rico.
3) Peninsulares Peninsulares involved early individuals that were from Spain but then traveled and placed a living in America around the 1500s. The creoles despised them, the creoles were Spaniards conceived in America. They had political power and social power which brought upon pressure between them. Finally their movement to America was because of Spanish triumph all through those domains. Finally, the reason why they were able to migrate to America because of the Spanish’s conquest.
