Positives with the Internet and Growing Up The youth generation today uses the internet so much in their daily lives it has created an epidemic. The epidemic caused uproar of different ways of learning, communicating, teaching and even shopping or advertising done online. Technologies such as ipad, laptops and smart phones make internet access unbelievably easy. Since it is so easy, “Growing up Online”, a document by Frontline that aired on Januarary 18, 2008, claimed that the internet has caused many issues in the youth’s lives. One problem the internet caused stated in the documentary is, it is very hard for parents and authorities to regulate what kids do on the computer.
Generally speaking, vending machines have become an easy excuse. If the schools did not have vending machines then students would no longer have an opportunity to easily skip class and walk the hallways freely. Without vending machines teachers will be able to conduct class with fewer distractions and more faces. Also, teachers will be able to have the class’s full attention while teaching them important learning material. Most students are side tracked by the temptation of buying something out of the vending machine leading to loss of attentiveness towards the teacher.
When students see others doing this it quickly reminds those who may have forgot that they too need to place their homework in the basket. Mr. Collet is then able to quickly see who has turned in homework and who has not. He also has provided the opportunity to each parent to purchase a daily planner; the planner allows the student to write down daily homework assignments for each class period and parents may follow up by looking at the planner nightly to ensure that the work is getting completed. Mr. Collet also allows for the students to participate in deciding what homework assignments are going to be assigned. Students get to give the opinion on what is best for them to learn from by helping Mr. Collet collectively agree upon what material they will have homework on.
Children are meeting sexual predators on the internet and forming relationships with them and unknowingly allowing them into their lives. Parents must talk to their children about the dangers of the internet. Technology is a great learning tool for them and they will be far more advanced than we were as children, but it also opens the door for unwanted predators who will take advantage of children. With a society more focused on wealth and having a good job and long lasting careers some children are often left in the care of daycare providers. You can often look on the internet and find video after video of the abuse and neglect that goes on in daycares.

It focuses on the average classroom and the average number of computers available in those classrooms and how this provision of technology influences students. An extended school day gives administrators the ability to ensure children get a well-rounded education. Many schools today are sacrificing social studies, the arts and physical education so children can cover basic subjects like math, English and science. This is hurting children across America, depriving them of the chance to find discipline and self-expression through the arts; and we should be ashamed to cut physical education while our children face an obesity epidemic. Extending the school day would also help families. In two-parent households, women have increasingly entered the workplace, and in single-parent households, there is even more of a need for the adults to work.
Individual students will be using their iPads consistently throughout the day. They will be used across the curriculum with students blogging, interacting on our class wiki, and creating multimedia projects. In small group instruction, specifically Tier 2 instruction, the iPads will be used to differentiate instruction. During small group instruction I will using Apps that compliment our units of study. Some students made need help with basic math facts while other students are ready to do some enrichment problem solving with their mathematics.
More and more computer based lessons have been given to high school students. Some things that could help is our sources of entertainment. Kids are spending far too much time in front of the television screen either playing video games or watching television.
