In-Class Activities Activity 1: Turning in assignments This is a daily activity that allows the students to turn in their work with appropriate headings so I can accurately compute their grades. Since there are many students in the class throughout different periods of the day it is necessary to keep things organized. One way of doing this is to make sure all students put appropriate headings on their assignments. Once papers can be identified, it is also imperative that the assignments get put into their appropriate place so I can grade one class at a time. Behavior Expectation #1: The students must have their name and an appropriate heading on their papers.
As the days went by I learned more activities to do and fun activities to help the children learn. By my third week I was writing lesson plans and learning what the correct benchmarks were to make sure that my lesson plan consisted of each section we needed for teaching the children. Now time came for me to actually teach a lesson to the children and the lead teacher as an assistant to me. The Children were responsive to me during my lesson they were eager to tell me what they knew and what they had learned the week before. There were many things I needed to learn and do in the classroom still.

John and several other children raised their hands. She answered a few questions from several students and stated that everyone should know what they are doing and to start on their assignment.

First, the program calls for an uninterrupted 90-minute reading block. Basic language skills, sound and letter recognition, sound blending and phonics instruction are considered strong in the early grades. The program includes shared reading, oral reading to partners and to the teacher. Integration of reading and writing is included, as there is a writing prompt at the end of each six-day cycle that reflects on the reading from that cycle.
