-ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS- Favorable environment for the children is the basic for the rapid establish themselves. When children feel safe and secure, they become more open to others. They are more active and involved in activity which give them support to develop their physical skills. -LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT- All children are different, that is why they learn and develop differently. All practitioners task is support them and create a plan of action for those children that need our special attention, including disable children and children with special education needs.
1.1. Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. Communication is important in developing relationships with children and young people because having positive relationships with the people we interact with makes our daily lives easier and more productive. In an educational environment maintaining positive relationships opens up opportunities for good communication, it gives us confidence in our ability and an understanding of our environment. Accepting shared responsibility by knowing what our role is and what’s expected of us is very important, following recognised procedure and understanding shared values all promote good relationships.
Competency Statement III To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance, I will supply children with an emotionally and physically safe and secure environment in which they will thrive, being able to develop their own sense of self. I will do this by smiling and greeting all children and their parents each and every morning. I will always address each child by their name. I will make sure every child gets some one on one attention when I can express appropriate physical touch and enjoyment in them being in my classroom. I will get to know each child, establish relationships with parents, and support their strengths as well as their needs.
It is important effective communication with adult to be able to build a relationship of trust and understanding. Parents and adult are likely to give beneficial of supporting if the communications is strong and effective and this can be beneficial for the children. Build and establish relationships ,prevent problem,misunderstand ,stay motivate,establish mutual respect are some example. Aim children to learn,have fun ,play and engage. Children will lear and develop when ether is a friendly environment with people they trust.
Describe what is meant by a positive environment. Whatever age group or setting you are working with you must plan an environment that encourages the development of the whole child. Think about the different settings that children and young people may experience. These settings have both indoor and outdoor physical spaces that need to be considered. Settings for children and young people: • Children centres- children aged 0-5years.
Simah arif MU 2.8 Contribute to the support of positive environments Section1 A.Provide a definition of the term positive environment A positive environment is a place where children can learn how to behave positively, develop good social skills, set good examples and is age and stage appropriate for each child. It should also be conclusive and accessible to meet and value the needs of every individual child in the setting. The environment should be free from diversity and discrimination of any kind and should promote creativity to help encourage children to be positive and friendly towards others and each other. Also it is a warm, happy, and suitable place where children can learn play and develop themselves. (Megitt, 2011).
For example, a learning environment could be; classroom, science lab, art studio, playground or sports field. An important factor to remember when planning an activity, inside or outside, is that all children and young people should be given equal opportunities. All children, including those with special needs, need to be considered when planning the learning environment. This means the environment may have to be adapted to meet specific needs. Four factors that need to be considered when planning a safe learning environment are: Cleanliness – whilst outdoors it is important to ensure that the learning environment is hygienic to use, ensuring the area is clean, free of litter, animal excretion, etc.
1.1 Explain the value of a child centred model of assessment and planning Child centred assessment and planning is a good way to make sure that the setting is giving the children attending the best possible chance to develop at their own rate. This is done by observation as it enables you to get to know the individuality of the child, ensuring that they are well placed and able to plan and all of their individual needs are met. I feel that in my role, observations take place each day through activities and interaction with the child. Assessing children is an on-going process, routines and activities can also build on information needs and interests. Assessments can also be made by other professionals, including doctors, social workers, occupational
I also watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and write anything that concerns me about the child/ children, then I bring the issues to the attention of centre's coordinator or supervisor to inform parents/ guardians. I always listen carefully to children and this helps me determine a child's needs and aids in promoting the child's development. Inclusive childcare is very important whether or not children experience disabilities or other special needs. Every single day at the setting, I make sure all children fee a sense of belonging. I let children participate in the same routines and play experiences, this way I learn to recognize children as distinct individuals with special strengths and needs.
In the workplace where i work appropriate communication such a pictorial aid (PECS) these are used where possible as children need pictures to communicate effectively. Other positive communication is maintaining a consistent and fair attitude - this can be done by setting boundaries and by not breaking them shows consistency at all times. Being appropriate with humour and body language, and using eye contact at all times shows good communication with children. Responding to children in appropriate manner also builds positive relationships. Respecting children’s dignity at all times is being appropriate - this can be done by knocking on children's doors before entering their bedroom.
