Browning over-exaggerates the features and beauty of the nature of England almost making them come alive with her use of personification. The poem is very descriptive and also plays on all the five senses. She shows the sense of taste with the use of the word ‘sweeter’ in line 12, ‘ Made sweeter for the step upon the grass’ and also line 20, ‘Fed full of noises by invisible streams,’ the sense of hearing is shown using the word ‘noises.’ Browning also used the repetition to give the reader a sense of continuity. She shows that nature is evergreen and will be omnipresent in this world. This can be seen with the repetition of words like ‘the’ and ‘and’.
It is a very simple and beautiful poem with an enchanting tone. This poem is an ode to spring and to the maturing of young girl into women, which was a perfect comparison and communicated the message of the poem very well. In this poem, the author describes all the different changes that take place as the spring season arrives. The grass is greener, the flowers are blossoming, the moon is pale, and the twilights are striking. These are all things that we associate with the spring season.
Both poems address the idea of seizing opportunity and living life to its fullest, but from different perspectives – one positive and optimistic, one negative through pessimism. The poems are similar because they both speak of love and seizing opportunity. Herrick’s first stanza begins by stating, “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may/ Old-time is still a-flying” (lines 1-2). What these lines portray is we must seize opportunity as we can because time is always moving and doesn’t slow down for anyone. Through the visual imagery of “gathering rosebuds,” the rosebuds are a symbol for purity and innocence we can draw the conclusion that the speaker is telling the virgins they are innocent and pure, but soon they will bloom and that is when life should be lived to the fullest, for example by having sex, marrying and having a family.
In Books II: Halifax to Hollywood, she (Rebecca Solnit) took a great deal of time looking at 20th Century explosion and wars, along with the reaction of the people to it. While also leading up to how Hollywood portrays that in their movies and how (in)Accurate it may be. Something as major as a war or an explosion could easily change someones views from being all about god, and how he protects all, to now believing Survival of the Fittest. Movies could portray someones motives as being a 180 of what they really were, and Solnit looks at this compare and contrast seemingly through the pages, culminating towards the end on how things change for people in disaster. EXPLOSION In the morning of Dec 6, 1917, Gertrude Pettipas decided to look

When he offers to take the chrysanthemums out of the garden, off the farm, some place to grow, she is elated. “Beautiful” (690). “Oh beautiful” (690).

One event can change your life when it impacts the way you do things, say things, and feel things. A life changing event can change you forever and affect the people around you as well. I believe this statement because I have been through many events that have changed my life. Many unexpected obstacles that have thrown my focus in life off track. Change is a part of life no one expects.
According to Ph.D. research sociologist Brian Uzzi of Northwestern University, movie buzz can often help a film become a blockbuster hit. Certain movies seem to creep into the airwaves and receive constant chatter from news organizations, online sites, talk-show hosts and radio DJs.
