I never realized how cozied up I was in my Jesus bubble until I got to challenge my perspectives in this Global Studies course. I lived in a bubble where all that mattered was my selfish self. I didn’t realize how much I was missing out on. The one thing that really stuck out to me was when Kristen started off the first day of class saying “I am going to pop your Jesus and CBU bubble. Before I was in the class I didn’t really bother to learn anything from other countries. All that mattered to me was the wellbeing of my family. I first started showing interest in other countries when I had the opportunity to serve at the Middle Eastern Baptist Conference here in California. I enjoyed working with Muslims who were eager for their kids to know who Jesus is. My eyes had started to open when I went to that conference. Those kids were very joyous and very intrigued by all the Bible stories. I learned so much from their countries by listening to the children and their parents. I learned that people drove them out of their own countries and sometimes those people were their own family members. The only choice they were given was to stop believing in the one true God and go back to their old idols. When the answer is no they are driven out of the country because they face persecution from their own family.…show more content…
If we stay here in the comfort of our homes and the comfort of our family we will never be able to accomplish the Great Commission. We were meant to live for so much more than staying here and being happy with our own lives. We were meant to go to the ends of the earth and reach people with God’s word. Of course not every Christian is going to leave everything and go overseas to be missionaries. But, even while they are not traveling across the world they can send others overseas to serve by donating money for their service to
