The author analyses many aspects of this industry, from the inhumane treatment of the cattle in their feedlots to the overworked and underpaid employees at fast food restaurants. I believe that the fast food industry has used its political influence as a way of circumventing issues of health and working conditions, while greatly increasing profits and expansion. Although part of the industry's functions is to sell their products, I think the consumers play a large role in their profits to keep these restaurants in business. Fast Food Nation Rhetoric (Logos, Pathos, Ethos) The fast food industry is a big part of millions of Americans lives and everyone has had fast food before. Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal is written by Eric Schlosser. Schlosser creates an argument of how the fast food industry influences everything and how they are big and bad. He uses 3 tenets of rhetoric: Logos, Pathos and Ethos. The first tenet is Logos.
It is ultimately up to the consumer to make the decision of what to put into their bodies. Without a healthy alternative, little to no nutritional information, and the ease and convenience of fast food why would we choose anything else? The fact is that we have been conditioned as children to eat fast food. We also see the ease of a drive trough and think of it as a great convenience to the alternative of cooking for you at home. American’s are always on the go and fast food corporations have exploited that fact to the extreme.
“Nearly everything about the way we make food today – from how we use land and manage animals to the ways we process and distribute our finished products – has presented our adaptive and entrepreneurial microrivals with a steady progression of opportunities”. (Roberts, p.179) In the film “Food Inc” A mother loses her young son to E-coli poisoning from eating a burger, a family vacation turned to tragedy. One life is already precious, imagine hundreds, thousands, millions. This chapter goes on to discuss possible solutions to our food system crisis. Many would argue that the current food system is aimed at feeding the world.

Childhood memories were illustrated in stories by the brothers. They even participated in snagging a Nome they hated as children together and acted like pirates to have a good time. Dominoes was a game that was played in their kitchen to pass the time. Overall, the two brothers had a good time together after not seeing each other for 5 years and the play ended without telling the audience if Malcolm made his decision to stay or leave. The play gave the impression that family is important and should be the most valued in any situation.
External Analysis Industry rivalry: High According to the case Chipotles leading competitors are Taco bell, Moe’s southwest grill, Qdoba and smaller chains Baja fresh and California tortillas. However the top competitors are able to offer and same services as Chipotle. Threat of Substitutes: Moderate Chipotles food offerings can be substituted with store bought ingredients. Also with the increase in stores offering a selection of organic ingredients, customers can opt to making their own burritos at home.
Fast food restaurants dont force the clients to buy and eat there. There are comments that people make and say that fast food restaurants should carry warning labels like the ones for tobacco and alcohol. I disagree, people should know what's right or wrong, good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. It is their responsibility, just like Mitch Jordan from Sacramento, California said, "Eat a lot, do nothing, and get fat. Eat a lot, exercise a lot, and stay healthy.
People don’t realize what they are doing for our future generations. Because of how fast food companies are targeting younger children, they are setting up their minds to automatically want fast food. In some minds this is repulsive in others its just another way to make a lump of money. Our world is changing very quickly and fast food restaurants are popping up faster than the flowers in spring. Americans are becoming comfortable with fast food and unhealthy choices.
