In lodging management, it is important that you ensure that guest are having a pleasant experience, but at the same time, you have to make sure that a profit is being made and that the establishment is running efficiently. A job in management in the lodging industry may include being a manager of the Wyndam Hotels for instance. Lodging managers typically “inspect guest rooms, public areas and grounds for cleanliness and appearance. Their jobs include greeting and registering guest. You also have to ensure that standards for guest service, housekeeping and food quality are met. Within the lodging management department, there are many types of lodging managers. To start from hierarchical point of view, general managers play a vital role in different hotel departments. They oversee all lodging operations and coordinate the activities of separate departments. These departments may include housekeeping, sales department, maintenance, office administration and more. Revenue managers work in a financial management to monitor room sales and bookings. They monitor what is known as the cash-flow at the hotel. Front office managers coordinate reservations and room assignments and train and direct the hotel’s front desk staff. Convention service managers direct and coordinate the activities of various departments to accommodate meetings, convention, and special events. They meet with different groups to plan special events that will be held in the building. During their meetings, planning and organizing is made.
