Child abuse is one of the most serious social problems and dramatic damage to our society. It is true the child abuse can be defined like social problem that manifests itself in all social strata; this is due to the lack of concern of our institutions by failing to ensure respect for children's rights. The child abuse it’s not good for them because many children has the same problem because their parents have to stop the violence or the abused it can be affect those children can have trauma and psychologically because their parents are guilty cause the children are abuse. At this point the child abuse is happening in everywhere that’s why now we have to protect our children and care about them. They need love and everything that they didn’t
Louis, Missouri, center which takes care of children at risk of being abused or abandoned. The causes of child abuse are many. Some believe the roots of abuse are buried deep within the brain, contributing to a malevolent form of mental illness. Others say that tolerance of child abuse is a cultural tradition. Abuse and neglect in the home is a leading cause of death for children age 4 and younger.
If you have been abused or know someone who has it is not okay and is something that you will have to live with for the rest of your life. Child abuse is not something you take lightly and if you know someone who is being abused you should seek help for him/her now. Almost five children die every day as a result of child abuse. More than three out of four are under the age of four (O’Meara and Fedderson). Children die every day because they’re being abused.
Physical abuse This is when a child is being physically abused this could include hitting, smacking, punching, kicking or include objects being thrown at them. This causes pain to them and leaves marks- this type of abuse can even lead to death The signs and symptoms of abuse include- -marks on the body -refusal to undress -running away from home -fear of physical contact -distressed -not wanting to do any medical examination Some marks you see on children can be just genuine injuries as children are always bound to have accidents. However this does not mean that we can’t keep an eye on them. In my setting if a child has a mark on their body whether it being suspicious or not we ask the parent what they did- most parents tell you before you ask and the majority of the time you are like yes okay that fine sometimes you may thing that they are not telling you the truth. If we have a child having repeat marks on their body or suspicious marks then we body map this and store it.
GP/Hospital GP’s or doctors at hospital may examine a child with injuries that they suspect to be non-accidental. Their duty in this case is to pass the information on to social workers. They may also have to examine a child that is thought to be at risk of abuse or has suffered abuse. They will then write a report for the social worker and give evidence if a crime has been committed. School If a teacher or member of staff suspect a child is being abused or if a child has told someone they are being abused, they have the responsibility to contact the child protection officer at the school who would then contact social services and/or the police.
Research shows that bullying is a very controversial subject that can be seen as a crime to some but not to others depending on the nature and severity of the bullying. It is a widespread problem that unfortunately most children have to go through at some point in their lives. Bullying is a conscious, wilful, deliberate, hostile and repeated behaviour by one or more people which is intended to harm others. What do people in today’s society really think of bullying? What can they do to help these victims?
It can cause confusion, which can then lead to stress, which can then result in aggressive behavior from the child. Spanking is a form of punishment which typically involves the punisher (usually an adult) striking the person that is being punished (usually a child) either with their hand, a belt, or some other instrument. Spanking is commonly used in situations where adults want the child to immediately stop whatever it is they’re doing wrong, which is why some people would consider spanking to be a good thing. “Spare the rod, spoil the child” is a phrase I’ve heard at least a hundred times throughout my life. This phrase simply means if you don’t give the child a spanking when they deserve it, you’re teaching them that their behavior is ok. A typical spanking (a couple swats with a hand) may be physically harmless; however, it can get out of hand.
When I read this for the first time, the first thought that came to mind was children that are exposed to domestic violence. Naturally, children that live in these conditions are prone to negative aspects that undoubtedly have a direct impact on their development. An article by the Child welfare organization clearly outlines the effects of domestic violence on children. Its interesting to note that these children were directly abused themselves but rather witness. It states that there are behavioral/ emotional, cognitive/ attitudinal as well as long term problems.
Psychologists and Pediatricians have long recognized the effects of abandonment in children. Psychoanalysts that have an interest in children have taken notice to the emotional development of children who have been a subject of traumatic experiences, as well as the possible unhealthy role of the family environment. Abandonment is at the center of a number of asocial behaviors. Antisocial behaviors is an alarm for children who are distressed due to the cause of abandonment. These studies had also been done previously during the World War 2 era with the same results.
I. Purpose of the Study In the American society today, one of the many important issues we neglect is Child Abuse; which is the physical, psychological or sexual maltreatment of children. This needs to be stopped immediately, because from my sociological perspective (seeing general patterns of society in the lives of particular people), most abused children experience greater emotional than physical damage. An abused child may become depressed. He or she may withdraw, think of suicide or become violent.
