Bullying Causes, Preventions, and Interventions Kim Rogers PSYCH 600 June 2, 2013 Vicki Koenig Bullying Causes, Preventions, and Interventions This topic is of particular interest due to raising four children, two who are currently adolescents. Eventually the two younger children will grow into adolescents and this research can provide some of the major components in the understanding of bullying causes, prevention and interventions. Having a stronger knowledge of this important issue prepares me to recognize the signs in my own children. Bullying is happening every day; in our schools, work place, and on social media. Many young children and adolescents in American schools are robbed of their prospect to learn because they are bullied and abused daily. Bullying can leave scars that can last for a life time. Although there have been volumes of research, numerous anti-bullying programs and a lot of media coverage, bullying continues to infiltrate our schools. The advancement of technology which is an open line of communication has expanded the chances for bullying to a degree that demands more innovative and immediate response. Three articles have been chosen that covers a range of thought on bullying causes, prevention, and interventions. The first journal article addresses to what extent bullying behavior of popular adolescents are responsible for whether bullying will or will not be accepted by their peers. The second article addresses studies cost, support, and those that make the decisions on what programs should be implemented. Finally the last journal article addresses the lack of intervention programs that are available for our youths.
