The environment that Miss Sun and her students walk into everyday has turned into a prison instead of a learning place. These children are seen as the rejects of society who are physically imprisoned by metal detectors and mentally imprisoned by their personal surroundings. The educational system fails children like them. Although Malcolm X High isn’t a real school, the problems that they face are present in many public schools. Due to all of these reasons the students in the play feel as though they are prisoners; Jerome: We treated like convicts Ms Sun: How do you mean?
Dear Salinas Police Officer, I am writing this letter because I am sincerely concerned about the on-going vandalism caused by a group of young teenagers. This group has been harassing my store for a month, and the severity of their actions has been increasing ever since I confronted them. Despite my efforts to keep them away with threats to call the police, they continue to harass not only the store employees, but also the customers. It seems that they are not scared of threats, and I no longer have any more options other than to actually try to solve this legally. I am aware that they are minors and are subject to reduced punishments, but I strongly feel that they should learn that the consequences of their actions.
Modest Proposal It is with sorrow that one walks through Las Cruces High School and sees the halls crowded with loud, foul-mouthed youngsters, mindlessly wandering to their next class, or just standing and waiting until they have to run across the school in two minutes. Teachers, instead of following their dreams of exposing knowledge, have to exert all of their energy to maintain their classroom. This is just a waste of time for the teachers since the classroom is filled with ignorant hooligans who are uninterested in learning anything and will only become criminals, or worse, become doctors, lawyers, or politicians. Las Cruces High School has merely become a day care center. It is obvious to the staff and honor students of Las Cruces High School that the troublemakers and irritating, spoiled brats are the cause of the corruption in our school.
Journal Local 5/01/02 There are many things in that get me mad. Something’s get me more mad then others. I could honestly make a list of never stopping things that get me mad. Some examples are my brothers and sisters running around the house and making really annoying noise, When my phone freezes I also get really mad, When teachers tell me I didn’t do something I know I did and turned in also pisses me off. Life of a student is a very stressful one, as you drag yourself to school around 7:40 you desperately try to find friends that have completed a large sum of the mound of homework we were given the day before. Everyone lines themselves in the hallways trying to urgently scribble down answers. It comes to a point when you don’t even care if they are right or wrong as long as there is something there. The bell becomes your enemy, it is the sound of, “your screwed, ” blaring through your ears. Everybody
I went to school in Brooklyn at Automotive High School. In my school there was a lot of violence because of gangs, race, and to prove how tough you thought you were. What I noticed about a lot of the students who I went to school with is we all live in the same type of place the “hood” as we called it, and were we lived there was a lot of violence and gangs which spilled over into school life. People in my school got into fights most times because of words that you shouldn’t say to another person, but did anyway to prove a point, and that point was “I’m tougher than you”. This would cause a lot of unnecessary violence over things that could have simply been avoided by being a bigger person, but in today’s world, being a bigger person is viewed as being scared or a coward.
And also do better then what I did in middle school. When I was Chastain Middle School I had a really nasty attitude. I did not want the teachers to say anything to me. I had bullying most of the kids and got to fighting two times. I had got suspend almost the whole year.
