According to Webb(n.d.), there might be problems endangering every being if they form groups together (p.1). There are the same problems in the mankind. People gather together in big cities because of conveniences, opportunities in education, career and lots of entertainments. For example, Kwan(2008) said that in Vancouver there are lots of festivals related with holidays such as Chinese New Year. However, living in a big city is more dangerous for life and health than living in a smaller one due to a high density of population and criminal acts. A large amount of inhabitants may cause bad health conditions of the people living in megalopolises. First, there is a high level of spreading of communicable diseases, because such diseases could be caught by the air, by germs, which breed in big quantities in public transport and in places of public resort, by water. For example in New York, there was a very dangerous disease called West Nile virus. The reason of the virus emerging was standing water. Fortunately, spraying the city and removing the dirty water killed the virus. Second, there is a problem almost in every big city concerning the huge use of cars, which cause air pollution. Hence, it badly affects people’s health. In particular, people have got diseases of respiratory organs such as asthma, allergy because of smog. Third, the most vital product for people is water, but water is transported to a city and collected in reservoirs due to a large population. It is not sanitary, because the water in reservoirs is good place for germs breeding. Yet, people use water in their everyday life for meal, cleaning, washing. The other bad side of big cities is a high level of criminal acts. According to statistics in megalopolises robbery, terrorism acts, murders happen more often comparing with villages or small towns.
