Beowulf The story of Beowulf was told in a time of war and battle. Whoever told the story, adjusted it so it would appeal to that specific group of people. Each time the story was told and re-told it was changed and stretched a little to make it more interesting. This resulted in a far-fetched story that in order to enjoy, you had to have a willing suspension of disbelief. The most unbelievable scene was the battle with Grendels mother.
