Social networking sites have become part of everyday life for most people. They have brought revolutionary changes in communication between people. These sites provide many resources such as email, instant messages, photo and video sharing in one place. Availability of these resources makes the communication easier and faster. When we look at the social impact of social networking sites, we find that these sites have both positive and negative effects. Because of this, it is important to analyze both advantages and disadvantages of social media sites. With the help of these sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) people can communicate and express themselves by exchanging messages and comments. Social networking sites help in establishing connection with, friends, families, work colleges and classmates. These sites can be accessed from any part of the world. Therefore, a person can interact with any person from any place. For example as an online student living in Sydney, Australia, I can take university courses in America and eventually can graduate from ten thousand miles away. Other social media advantages include advertise goods and services, job searches, to find dating partners and catching and convicting criminals. The most common disadvantage of social networking sites is addiction. Users of these sites often get addicted to it and spend hours using these sites. It harms their performance in other areas of their lives. Sometimes it causes mental and physical health problems. Pictures and phrases on a wall can take the place of phone calls and face to face time with family and friends. Sometimes users provide their personal information to others which is insecure. Criminals can prey on people without revealing themselves. For example many physical harm, even death occurred throughout the world because of these sites’ open access to public. Like many
