They want government to dictate to corporations and take their money from them by force. They basically want the government to be the "Robin Hood" of the world by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. The problem with this is that it will not achieve anything of positive value. Communist governments ran countries around the world for the last few decades. They dictated everything: who would earn what, what products would be produced or sold, and at what price.
If the U.S were to dismantle its own, other countries would do the same. Countries such as Iran, Pakistan and North Korea, just to name a few, have them because they feel threatened by other nations that have such weapons. This is like a chain reaction, if Venezuela in South America were to develop nuclear weapons; other countries like Brazil would follow. How can the U.S. prohibit other countries such as Iran from developing nuclear weapons when they are spending billions of dollars in the maintaining and developing of them? In conclusion, weapons of mass destruction are the most powerful a country can have.
Even scientists who worked on building the bomb were opposed to its use. Crimes of humanity are usually murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian. The dropping of the Atomic bomb killed thousands of people and scarred all the people who survived permanently. Seven scientist, who had helped build the bomb, submitted a report to the Interim Committee, which advised the President, saying “If the United Sates were to be the first to release this new means of indiscriminate destruction upon mankind, she would sacrifice public support throughout the world, precipitate the race for armaments, and prejudice the possibility of reaching and international agreement on the future control of such weapons” (John Toland, ibid, p. 762). The scientists are the ones that know best about the bomb, they were the ones that built and designed it.
Al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that he founded in the early 1980’s, has been encouraging other minor terrorists to take action, making the world an over-all more dangerous place to live. Among his fellow terrorists, he is a revered hero, but all over the world, he is seen as a villain, a power-hungry monster greedy for power and attention. Because of bin Laden’s treacherous deeds, the United States has lost over 100 billion dollars in revenue, billions more by invading
"Here at great expense," he moaned to Oppenheimer, "the government has assembled the world's largest collection of crackpots. “In the epilogue, Sheinkin acknowledges the difficulties of addressing such a big topic. “In the end, this is a difficult story to sum up,” he writes. “The making of the atomic bomb is one of history’s most amazing examples of teamwork and genius and poise under pressure. But it’s also the story of how humans created a weapon capable of wiping our species off the planet.
The single party in power led, by Big Brother, controls mass media and uses the fear of death, to create obedience. This depicts Oceania realistically enough to remind readers that such a society has indeed existed, for example in fascist Spain, Stalin's Russia, and even in North Korea. All these governments are totalitarian, they have removed all humanity, by removing all freedom: drastically changing the lives of every citizen. Worse yet, if people forget the lessons history has taught them, about each of these dictatorships, we will have a society as brutally repulsive as the society Winston Smith lives in.
Do you want lobbyist to be able to have that power? To be able to relay insider information to huge lobbying firms so that they can push a law that could censor you? To take away your cat videos? No, obviously not, but lobbyists push huge bills in the name of corporations all the time. SOPA was a bill that was, without question written for Hollywood.
Taking away people’s right to own firearms, as Dwyer notes, is a calculated move aimed at leaving the people with no free will. Americans are no longer safe because Liberalism and its ideologies has done away with the safety measures that were aimed at keeping criminals in jail, deporting illegal migrants who are known for their unlawful activities and ensuring that mental patients remain in hospitals. These people are now freely loaming the streets, endangering people’s lives and instead of preventing and stopping this from happening, the government is only keen at imposing the gun-control law on law-abiding citizens. Crime rates are rising, many people have died in the recent years and people need to protect themselves from these criminals but with the gun control laws, no one will be
Occupy Wall Street Movement Sonya L. Hames BUS 309 Prof. Allen Strayer University November 4, 2012 The Occupy movement’s power comes from a simple moral message: It’s wrong to demolish the world of health and hopes of others. We called the Occupy movement the source of the crises of our time. Wall Street banks, big corporations, and others among the 1% are claiming the world’s wealth for themselves at the expense of the 99% and having their way with our governments. The Occupy Wall Street didn’t start by just demanding change; it also transformed how the 99% see themselves. Many people felt shame when they couldn’t find a job, pay their debts, or keep their homes from being taken was a political
If you were to go around asking American citizens what they would do as President you would get so many different answers. “I would give every one a million dollars” is a common answer but it would be not practical. It would be a waste of time and money. If I were President I would make impacts on the key issues that influence today’s average American citizen. President Turner would go down in history as the one who legalized marijuana, kicked all the illegal immigrants out of the country, and help make earth a healthier planet.
