War is “armed battle between different nations or states or different groups of people.” So as long as there is a conflict between nations or groups, there will be war? War will always be a part of human nature because there will always be people that are trying to take advantage of other people and whenever you have these people, you need to have people that need to go in and remove them from their power. For every evil force, there must be a balancing good force. Considering an opposite view, most people do want peace. It is just those selfish, greedy people who decide that they want more than what is rightfully theirs.
3.2% or 3.6% of our national GDP is based on making war. We have been doing this since the end of World War II. Is war necessary? This question divides people all the time. There are reasons to support both sides of the issue.
What came out of the post war era was a generation of suspicion and mistrust called the Cold War. This was a stalemate war between the US and USSR, or the global East and West. Both sides were sceptical of the other and the threat of war made society at the time harsh. There were many causes for the cold war; however the main beginnings were in the immediate aftermath of World War Two. The world was left in a bipolar power struggle between the two main superpowers, America and the Soviet Union.
The main causes of the war were the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, militarism, imperialism, Morocco 1904, Bosnia 1908 and the Balkan Wars. World War I started because of the contests between the powers of Europe and the loathing between the alliances. All countries were putting pressure on each other. When countries joined alliances the opponent would get worried and would then get others to join. This was the tinder for the War.
Austria declared war on Serbia, which provoked Russia to help the Serbians, which led to Germany declaring war on Russia and France, which triggered England to declare war on Germany. Hostilities promulgated to the European colonies in Africa, Asia and the Middle East as many other nations joined in the conflict. Another factor contributing to World War I was the economic competition and conflicts erupting from power struggles over the colonial empires that had been building up through the last decade. Britain and Germany were in a power struggle after the Industrial Revolution to ensure raw materials were utilized and produced for their particular needs. Many people in the region surmised it was only a matter of time before the two major powers had expanding confrontations regarding these raw materials and workers themselves.
Therefore Austria wants to attack Serbia. This is one great example of how war and about the battles fought when one person or nation feels that another has done a bad deed to them is still relevant today. On September 1, 1939, World War 2 started because of the invasion of Poland by Germany. “Hitler had long planned an invasion of Poland, a nation to which Great Britain and France had guaranteed military support if it was attacked by Germany.” (History 1). Since Germany did invade Poland, which was a bad deed to the Poland’s, Great Britain, Poland, and France went back and attacked Germany.
An ideology war, in terms of politics or economics, refers to the underlying set of beliefs or doctrines that includes violent actions. An ideology is a result of a normative thought process trying to bring about change in society (Enotes). In comparison, a religious war is caused by spiritual differences. It can involve one state with an established religion against another state with a different religion or a different sect within the same religion, or a religiously motivated group attempting to spread its faith by violence (war). With that information being stated ideological differences are most likely the cause of most wars.
The Nazi-Soviet pact was responsible for the outbreak of war because France and Britain had decided to finally intervene. Since Hitler had taken Czechoslovakia as a cause of Britain’s policy of appeasement, this frightened USSR and Stalin felt that the only way to keep the USSR safe was by signing the Nazi- Soviet pact. The Nazi-Soviet pact gave Hitler confidence in invading Poland and was a way to avoid war on two fronts. Britain and France on the other hand felt it was time to react and as soon as Germany’s army entered Poland they themselves prepared their own military defenses causing the Second World War. The pact was the final cause of war as Hitler could now invade Poland without any interference from Stalin.
War has then become a natural extension of this role, and whether it is defined as just or unjust is determined by its effect on the position of the US and its allies. Inevitably, all civilizations have to deal with war, whether purposefully waging it or defending against it. World history is filled with bloody conflicts between states, the results of which have changed the way the world interacts. Our country was even formed as a result of a war against colonial oppression. At the time it was endlessly debated as to whether going to war with the British was the right thing to do, but it was eventually decided that it was necessary in order to gain our independence.
First of all the first World War happened mainly in Europe while the Second World War was fought at a global scale but they both started by a threat to the balance of power and started within Europe showing the importance that took World War II. During both wars, the Americans in battle wanted the total destruction of enemy rather than a defensive strategy. They entered war because of feeling attacked, often due to a provocation (Lusiytinia during World War I and Pearl Harbor in World War II). There is a difference due to technologic advancements in the way they fought during those wars, warfare methods differed, during World War I for example, the mobility of the soldiers was very limited, they would stay in the trenches and wait for the enemy to attack whereas during World War II, it is mainly massive bombings. ‘The most decisive a weapon is, the more surely it will be used’.
