I1. It is important to recognise that communication is a two way channel. There are many factors that can affect an individual’s skills and ability to communicate effectively. Working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties requires an understanding of their individual needs and mostly backgrounds as it promotes an open forum were young people feel free to express their views and opinions. I also identify that communication flow must also be maintained amongst individual team members. Just as with the residents, members in a team have different needs too and these need to be considered when either delegating or receiving information from the other party.
